Edit: Interesting R&D piece form Tomei. See below, Chapter three is about exhaust manifold design EL vs. UEL and why they chose UEL

Very interesting read. Thanks!

In my mind, it would seem like proper turbo placement, planning, tuning, etc. could result in great performance as well.
@JDLAutoDesign Will you guys be posting dynos of UEL compared to EL when you're ready? It would be nice to start gaining some definitive answers instead of speculation about what "seems" logical.

If I went EL ... I would have to try super hard to make my exhaust sound half as decent after this. I mean just listen to this comparison video. (One of the closest to actual sound profiles I have found.) [ame]http://youtu.be/PGykinGlPno[/ame]

Just so you know, you are getting me to change my mind, get EL and be done with it.

Not because I didn't know this already, but because you are making me think about it. I had blocked it all off.

I'm a fan of the UEL sound, but thought hard about it last night and just think what's the point of investing all this money on performance to leave some of it on the table for "sound"... Yeah, I'm going EL thanks James

Hahaha, think about it. You loose a close race, won't doubts come into mind thinking f*ck man, I should have gotten the EL...

I've read and read and read and the most I can find regarding performance is that EL gives more power up top. I did ran UEL for some months and it sounds glorious, but our cars with the proper exhaust setup do sound good EL so why not.

That's is kind of true, and with a GTR WHO vanity plate that I'm going to order I can't afford any performance loss

But where's the proof saying this has to be the case? Most turbo kits are designed around EL because it's easier to design around and it's what everyone does ... but who has the proof that a turbo kit actually designed around a UEL manifold can't be it's equal?

I guess I mean, where's the proof that crushed your dreams? I can't find definitive proof anywhere?
