Wax and Selant Removal

Recommendations for products of this kind? I've read some reviews on Chemical Guys Clean Slate but they aren't great. I want to know what people recommend before I get the car ready for winter road conditions. While I still have decent weather and daylight.

I usually opt for using a little of dawn on my foam blaster, rinse, then use gold wash with a microfiber sponge to prep the surface for sealant and then graphite wax.
I don't like having to use dawn since it can be too strong for the paint surface and other surfaces. I want a friendlier product that can strip the sealant and graphite wax without compromising the surface too much.

I've used Chemical guys clean slate and dawn detergent. I found you get about the same result, with the dawn being significantly cheaper. I haven't been concerned about dawn being too strong or damaging anything nor have I seen any adverse affects from doing it multiple times over the last 4 years.

A chemical "strip" of this nature is not guaranteed to get all the old wax off anyways. Really the only way to be sure is a clayburn and light polish, but that adds a significant amount of labour and really isn't something you need to do very often.

Twice a year I'll do a "strip" wash, then an iron remover (Iron-X in my case), and then thorough rinse and dry before I apply new wax.

For strip washes I go with a bucket of water and APC spray. Spray onto panel/mitt and wash each panel, then rinse off the sections.

This will be "Reset". Also if your car is heavily dirt, use this and re wax it.

Chemical Guys citrus wash n' gloss is pretty strong. Add a clay bar, meguiar's clay kit is really nice. I use the wash mitt / car wash soap as a clay lubricant.

less of an issue if you're looking to strip everything and correct/re-wax afterwards.

So I ended up going with regular dawn dish-soap as a foamer, and the meguiars Gold wash for the two bucket method. Did a clay bar, and polish. Finished with a sealant. Polishing is very time consuming. But worth it in the end, now I can see the acorn dents with a higher finish........

Only thing that's ever worked for me is clay bar. All those soaps that claim to strip wax don't do shit. Spray water on your car after they're used and you'll see it still beads as it reacts to the hydrophobic sealant that's still on your paint.

You could use rustoleom wax tar remover as panel prep... i use it to knock down sealants and tenacious wax

Hope you use a respirator for that stuff. Haven't tried it but looks potent.
