Plastidipping (Not Wheels)
So basically I've decided I'll probably plastidip my car. My question is, has anyone done this? I know I've seen a few pics of the car plastidipped, like the one below, but do any of you have any tips or tricks to it? Is it a difficult thing to do? Not worried about money or time, just want it to look right.

Friends don't let friends drive drunk.
Or dip their cars... Dipped cars never look all that great. If you wanna learn patience and a good skill, try wrapping your car instead.

Depends on how much after-the-spray cleanup you want to do. Spent 1/2 a day taping windows, lights etc. It does peel off, but it is still labor to remove it. Spent about 3-4 hours spraying. Was world rally blue to start. Used one gallon of white base, probably should have used two gallons . Used 1 gallon and a half of the green. It has faded...........but still have gal.& 1/2 to respray. Inside curves will pull when it dries so don't lay it on too thick, too quick. Plenty of online videos from Fonzy at dipyourcar.com

If you're not worried about money, wrap the car, that's my advice, plasti dip small items or wheels? yeah, the whole car? no.

I Plasti-Dipped my front Polyurethane front lip with two coats of black and two coats of gloss. Looks great! More coats the better when it comes to Plasti-Dip. Easier to remove in the long run.

Yeah, I don't wanna wrap because I don't want it to be permanent. Is plastidip easy to clean and maintain? I have it on my wheels but it's not really the same as when your whole car is dipped.
Also, if it were to get cuts or chips in it, can you just spray over that piece or would you have to peel it all off and do a whole new coat?

Wrap isn't permanent at all, and it doesn't have the same risk of staining the paint. Quote:
Never going to like it. It always looks like someone got the cheapest paint job they could and left the orange peal. |

Plenty of people have dipped their entire car here. Some actually look very nice. One upside to dipping your entire car is that it will preserve the paint underneath, so when you decide to peel it off the paint will be next to new. A risk you run is that it could possibly stain the paint temporarily if the sun bakes it. If it does, it should go away on it's own but it'll take a while.

Dipping a car is easy if you get the dyc gun. Did 4 cars in the last 2-3 months. Just take your time and mask well. And yes, you should get the gun because using cans is gonna be difficult.
