As I get older, I'm convinced it's just not possible to have that same high as a LAN party. The disconnection of not physically seeing someone changes the dynamic.

Same only it was Unreal Tournament and America’s Army. The photo shows two of the three “Beige Box Boys” our little LAN group.

My 3 sons and I still have a great time playing Halo, Risk of Rain, Gunfire Reborn, and a few others over the Internet when we can get together. I think part of that though is because even when they were home and we did it "LAN Party" style the PCs were spread throughout the house and not in the same room so we got used to playing that way.

The only reason I'd consider the 5700X3D is because I'm small form factor and heat is the enemy. Also cuz $250 minus the Amazon points I have mean's I'd get it for literally $100.

You can't turn those points into cash? The way these systems work is kinda shady to me. I really should cash mine out though.
I don't see much cpu heat even with a 5800x3d, GPU for sure, and the SSD struggles to stay cool enough.

I have never heard of an SSD getting to hot. What temps are you seeing?

I know some NVME SSD run warm like the Samsung 990. But I've never paid attention to mine.

I've never seen anything shady about them lol. They come in clutch every now and then. I would get the 5800X3D, but the 140mm AIO my NZXT H1 has is probably on the upper limits.

65-70°C, nvme SSD. It's hiding just above the video card and doesn't really get much airflow. WD850X or whatever it is. Pcie4 gets hot, pcie5 are worse. And it throttles at these temps. Slower drives stay cooler, and you have to enable temp monitoring quite often so it can go hidden.

It's just the way people see it as a discount on the initial purchase but then count it as free money when spent. It's one of the other, not both.

Yikes. Mine never gets above the 45 mark and averages at 30-35.
SFF?

Nope, phanteks p500a. Temps are slightly better with a larger Sabrent heatsink on the drive and tied the front case fan speeds to include drive temp but still 55-57°C. I really should try an air diverter to see about directing more air over the drive.
If I'm not gaming it's nowhere close to this of course. Location on the motherboard and such also play a role, not all setups may be as tricky. Definitely not a problem I expected when I picked the parts.

I disagree, but that's your prerogative to believe that.

I feel this is relevant here. I'm conflicted on how I feel about this for a lot of reasons. Thoughts?
