I haven't done anything since re-seating the connector that one time, ... but I'm keeping a closer eye on the trims.

edit: for accuracy, I changed 'high' to 'off.' I don't remember which direction it flopped.
Those codes didn’t even pop until I started the car without connecting the MAF. I am sure it is not related to the running issues. I am questioning if I got the EVAP purge hoses on correctly on the bottom of the intake manifold, may have forgot the clamp or something dumb. Driving it feels completely fine under light load. It acts like it is triggering some load compensation and just dumping tons of fuel under certain conditions. Idling and light load driving AFR’s look mostly fine, a bit unstable but not alarming.

Honestly I am just happy I didn’t end up with any cam position correlation codes. I had to disassemble and clean all the cam gears, driver side intake I had to replace.

Gotcha. Makes sense. Careful! Boost amplifies the effects of an off-kilter engine.

Preaching to the choir but worth mentioning.

Yeah I been watching AFR and oil pressure like a hawk. Also driving with windows down(in the rain) with no stereo on listening for noises. I think mechanically it’s fine, just issue with fueling. I guess I should try to take less then a year to put a car back together next time

I did also learn from reading in the WRX forums the driver intake cam gear seems to have more issues. It is a lot different from the other cam gears. It has this spool valve in addition to the plunger present on the other cam gears. The valve is held in place by a staked on cover. Mine was loose but even punching it back down it wouldn’t lock into its normal position. I did find when assembling the cam gears onto the cam to leave them in a position were the plunger is not locked so it can rotate freely, then rotating it till it locks after bolted back to the cam. Rotating it till the plunger is locked, then bolting it to the cam seemed to make them bind.

Yea, I've seen the blank front page but never occurred to me to look for a subpage.

Reminds me of the time I was riding with a buddy in his 2000 Cherokee. It was dark and a little rainy when we stopped at the local auto parts. He decided to cut diagonally across the outer parking spaces to park in front of the store. I saw the light pole coming. Twice, I told him to stop but he thought I was making some kind of a joke (which I am not above doing). Boom, he hit the concrete base of the pole. We were only going 3-4 mph so there was only minor damage to his car and we added another scar to the concrete base.

Dang A-pillar.

Over the "hump" on my last week of work (retiring this Friday 12/20/24). My office is empty of all personal items except one framed collection of the Wright Brothers patent applications and a mini-fridge.

I've entered the surreal zone....
