In the FA20's case, the E85 is easier, because the amount of **time** spent pushing the piston down during combustion is greater, rather than the amount of **force** against the piston. This is courtesy of the ignition timing advance, rather than exploding more gas with more air to get a bigger boom.

Another persoective: more timing advance allowed by ethanol allows you to harness more of the energy in the fuel used. You have the same energy density, because stoich hasn't changed, and your air intake hasnt changed. You are able to use more of it because you can advance timing without knocking. More boost = more fuel = bigger kaboom = more torque. However, because it's MORE boost, you (long story short) get LESS ignition timing, so while the boom is bigger, you are able to harness less of it.

Remember, engines don't deliver a constant level of torque like an electric motor, but rather, deliver pulses. These pulses are smoothed out by things like heavy pulleys, flywheels, clutches, transmissions, etc. E85 = longer pulse. More boost = stronger pulse. Net torque output = sum of the pulse, whether longer and/or stronger.

Hopefully that made sense. I can elaborate more. There's many other factors as well, but this is just a very surface level version.
Makes perfect sense, thanks sensei. I think I'll be upgrading to a flex fuel setup next spring.

CSG BRZ 2.0 saw nearly 60k miles on the JRSC, in various trims. I believe the kit went on when the car had like 900ish miles on it?

Delicious flexfuel tune

I've put 10k miles on it since June, bought it used with alleged 5k miles. Tracked @ Sebring, PittRace, and Road Atlanta.

BTW, the vibration issue I posted a while back was due to the cf driveshaft. I replaced it with a stock one and had no issues reaching 140 at Road Atlanta. The manufacturer is checking it to see if it's out of balance or if my drivetrain is too stiff for it.

JR C30 kit, 91 octane standard tune, JR oil cooler and Rotrex cooler. No other engine/exhaust mods.
Its been on the car for 20k miles. Its my daily and occasional DE car. Only issue I've had with the kit was the supplied diverter valve which I replaced with the RK valve after the 2nd one failed. Its been exactly what I hoped for. Reliable and gave the car some ass.

Hey guys, just got a kit used. I was wondering if one of you long term jrsc guys could give us the high points of this 373 page thread? TL;DR of sorts for the c30/c38 kits?

tl dr= forced induction does not make your car a time bomb. replace the kits air filter and inline oil filter every two years or 50k miles. oil cooler is A MUST if you track if you track more than once a year.

There is no TL;DR. What information are you looking for? Perhaps I can help.

I checked your "Garage" link. Your car is basically stock under the hood if your configuration is up to date.

Perrin Pulley
Unichip
Injen Intake
Stabilus hood Props

Your injane intake will be replaced. Perrin pullley does not do much more than looking good. A damper pulley would help better with FI. I don't know what is unichip.

You will need either factory tune from JR or CSGMike can also help you with etune.

Like HaXx wrote, getting an oil cooler is a very good idea if you will ever track the car, even once.

If you install yourself or get it installed at a shop, pay attention to pipe/hose joints for boost and vacuum leaks. Also, the EVAP purge solenoid under the intake manifold is known to leak, clamp both ends of the hoses connected to that solenoid

Since your kit is used, you will probably need the followings which are available from JR or CSG.
- Rotrex sx150 traction fluid and filter
- Accessory belt specific for JRSC
- Air filter
- Plastic Check valve connected to vacuum hose on the intake manifold (good idea to get a new one)
- Recirculation valve (if too old)

Also, I would replace the MAF sensor with a brand new one since your car is 2013.

Wow, umm thanks for the responses! I bought the car new over 7 years ago, and I don't think I have updated that "garage" in like 6 years.

I already have the kit installed, and the car is dedicated track car

My Build thread

I guess just looking for anything in the thread that needs to be pointed out after so many people have ran the kit for years now, like "tips and tricks" kinda info. I have a catch can, and everything is running great right now.
