A transverse AWD layout doesn't automatically mean easy longitudinal RWD conversion (although it would definitely be easier than a transverse FWD platform, as proven by the Twins).

Are you talking about the Subaru platform with this?

LOL, now I feel silly. I assumed regular Subaru's run transverse, guess I was wrong Thanks for the correction.

Well, the TNGA does support both transverse and longitudinal engines, so yes, that would make more sense (despite the longitudinal support being only for the larger versions of it).

4 inches?

Yeap, and it's not like workshops, mechanics and general hacks have been putting in IL4, V8, V10, V12 and even rotories, some with turbos and/or superchargers in the belly of the twins.

Toyota could easily supply an engine to Subaru.

That is what I would be pushing towards the "sports coupe" fan club, Subaru will do what Toyota wants in the end, wether it is for financial reasons or not, Subaru is really only a little fish in the pond, backed, and kept afloat, by Toyota.

But then I am jaded on the boxer lay out, simple things are problematic, its engine out to pull the heads.

I believe I have had the best Subarus anyway, a WRX STI and a "Toyota" 86.

My vote for a powerplant is >
Engine Code
8AR-FTS
Power
180kW @ 5800rpm
Torque
350Nm @ 1650-4000rpm

Make it fit, make it light, make it manual, and I will throw money.

Raindows, lollipops and unicorns......

You cannot put an I4 under this hood without putting a pretty tall bump in it.
Mr. 2JZ swap doesn’t have to adhere to pedestrian safety design rules. Subaru and Toyota sort of do...

.
Yeah I agree. From what I have read from the Vorshlag V8 swaps, they are able to retain the same weight balance because of how far the stock engine protrudes into the engine bay. I am really not a fan of the boxer layout in general.

This is just another article based on the latest clickbait cycle. Considering that it was the same sites that started the cycle they are now countering it is meaningless drivel.
