The engine splash guard on the WRX needs to be removed to easily access the oil filter. It is held on by two clips and one bolt in the back, six push rivets on the side, and two bolts on the front. All three bolts were missing, but there is no damage to the threads, nor was there damage to the plastic guard where the bolts should have been. I don't mean to speculate (okay I do), but I'm pretty sure those three bolts aren't missing because I hit a concrete lip on the highway...

Did you have work done somewhere else recently that I'm sure you told us about but I forget?

After a few cycles, the frs screws start coming loose more easily. I've lost a couple but I also hand torque a bit on the loose side. I bought some extras and nudged a bit tighter.

FYI, as you age, your hand torque values will go down.

Oil change an inspection, although no clue when the bolts went missing.

Only if you mean "few" in a literal sense. The car is only 2 years old and thanks to not driving much this year, only has 15000 miles on it. It's had exactly 3 oil changes. I can't buy it as reasonable that all three bolts would both be loose enough to fall out, and fall out in that time. 1 or 2, maybe plausible. All three, hell no.

eta: If properly reinstalled, that is.

Gentian blue. Loved the old gt4's blue too which was closer to Subaru's WRB. This color is much nicer in person though. I always have wanted a pts yachting blue metallic gt series Porsche but, this color is a nice alternative to a custom 20k paint to sample option.

Couldn't even rationally reason with myself into a gts on the 981. It just because me buying a GTS yhen paying out the butt to add all the GT4's goodies onto the car spending even more. Kind of the reason I've stayed with this platform through the entire gen. It keeps me in check and not further down the rabbit hole.

About noon today as I was coming back home with a load of Jack-in-the-Box "food" to feed the starving granddaughters, I was passed by a dark colored Porsche of some sort. I knew it was a Porsche because when it was behind me in traffic, I noticed the emblem.

As I pulled away from a light on a straight 4 lane street, I was accelerating at a modest rate when I was startled by this Porsche "flying" by me. There was no forewarning of it coming, no smoking or squealing of tires, no loud exhaust no sound at all except when it passed me, then that car sounded like a fighter jet taking off at full throttle!

He then kept the hammer down for another 1/4 mile or so. I estimated his speed in excess of 100 mph, again with no sound except a loud whoosh as he quickly flew almost out of sight.

Welp, that was my excitement for the day. -

I just got a set of tires like 4 or 5 thousand miles ago and I think two of them already have slow leaks. What a RIP.

Edit: Double-checked my notes, looks like 7 thousand miles ago. But still! That's only maybe 1/3 of the life I could get out of these.

Was it a 4-door sedan? With spaceship-y headlights? Could've been the electric Taycan.

I just googled a picture of a Taycan , you may very well hit on it. It looks like the same in the front - the sides went by so fast I couldn't count the doors and it went almost out of sight so fast I didn't get a look at the rear end.

An electric car sure would account for the lack of sound.

Man, couldn't I tool up to Walmart in style with that machine -

Maybe it's just the cooler weather? -

Maybe you picked up a couple of nails? -

Maybe you should stop driving down the backstreets of Milpitas looking for women? -

Hahaha, probably more like East San Jose .

Could be. For the front passenger corner, I had to fill it up back at the end of July but haven't since then (well to be fair this time around I haven't been checking it often so I went by the TPMS light). So if it is a leak it's super slow. For the rear passenger corner, not sure.

I'll probably just have a shop check 'em out but I can't do that for a week and a half because I'll be on-call for work starting tomorrow until next Friday, and then some family stuff going on the following weekend.

Quite possible. I have gotten crossed-up, seen a Panamera GTS (or Turbo?), and mistaken it for a Taycan because they're a bit similar in some aspects. Other than the front fascia and headlights design they look quite similar at speed.

I know some have a love/hate relationship with the Taycan's design language but I've really enjoyed seeing it in person.. 3 times now?

If I could afford one as a daily, I'd totally get it.
