You should look into Nitto Invo's I run those on 225/45R 17. They are veryquiet, dare I say more comfortable then OEM and have only slightly more grip. Iam really happy with them for a DD. I was hoping they would grip better, but Ialso like getting sideways so I feel these are a good middle ground. The one thing you might not like is the side wall seems a little soft IMO.

I'm on Tire Rack trying to find a good tire & Wheel package for my 2015 BRZ
I want to go 18" but was told that might slow the car down.
I dont really mind that much but do y'all think 17 to play it safe?

Depends on how heavy you go with the wheels. Bigger size means more weight. There are a few articles and videos that test out different sizes at the track and post their observations. You get performance gains up to a certain point.

All in all, you probably wont see a huge difference between 17 and 18 according to the data, but (at least for me) there's a big difference between stock wheels and tires and lighter rims with higher traction tires.

for $100 a piece they're no brainer and can be also used for mild track/auto-x events
Did I mention they're the best tires for wet (for street use of course)?

Tire Rack has 225/45/17's for $141 each. And the 245/40/17 for $169.

There are cheaper tires that are good. But the Michelin is Great! I now have 22,000 on my fronts and 17,000 on my rears. I am just down to the wear bar. I have new ones ordered

So if i was going to go 18" rims, what would be a solid tire measurement that requires no modifications?
Right now i wrote down 225/40/18, but it looks like i can even go 235/40/18...

How is the wet weather traction on those tires? I'm considering them as my next set.

they used to be $100 and some change but now $118 a piece at here so still $20 a piece cheaper than TireRack, I've purchased tires from there before with no issues

Can anybody tell me on which set of tires to get for these 18" wheels i am getting?
MICHELIN/PILOT SUPER SPORT
Size: 225/40ZR18 (92Y) XL

vs.

MICHELIN/PILOT SUPER SPORT
Size: 225/40ZR18 88Y
BMW

What is the difference between the 92Y vs. the 88Y???
Also can i go any bigger for tires that 225/40 without rubbing? or is this a pretty good set up for stock suspension?

88y has a lower load rating than the other. I believe our factory tires are 84w so you should be good.
