That's the only reason I got an auto. No patience to wait for a manual black BRZ. That's why I was able to get it May 2012. Plus I would probably get in more trouble with a manual and go through tires a lot faster.

I got an auto cause I like getting 40-45 mpg on the highway, and planned to turbo from the beginning. Limits me in autocross, but I've not seen a detriment in roadcourse or anything else I do. Just annoys me considerably less in stop'n'go traffic.

So what rpm can you launch at now?

I have an Auto too and I think its great. The only time I have my doubt is when im rolling around town slowly, it is quite boring. But when Im doing a bit of spirited driving, the auto is perfect, the response is as good as the manual for me in every way. Coming from a DCT M3.

No real automatic (with a torque converter) will rev above the stall speed if the car is stopped and the transmission is in a gear other than park or neutral. The ONLY way it can rev while in a gear is if the transmission computer actually shifts it into neutral without you moving the lever. DSG, PDK, etc are different since they have a real clutch.

This isn't a software thing, the torque converter is just doing its job.

I too sorta felt like i was the lone male driver with an auto, but I love the auto in the BRZ. I just wish they had an option for more aggressive ratios, or at least an option to have the same gears as the manual. Oh well, that will just be another investment later on down the modification road.

Seeing these 4.56 and 5.11 final drive kits makes me drool. I think that'd make up for not having the close-ratio gear spacing in the manual. I want some violence.

I bought the auto to use oversteer (Hey kids, you don't need a clutch to do that!), so far it hasn't changed gear on me in those situations.

But buying an Auto to do burnouts it a lot like buying an Microwave to cook steak.

That was my thinking. Not sure how people were able to exceed the stall rating. Are there any aftermarket converters available for these cars yet? I realize the downside of running a sloppier converter. A little higher stall, as long as it was a small, tight converter would be quite fun though.

Higher stall would only matter off the line, apparently the transmission ECU locks up the converter as soon as it can in the auto FRS'.

I know, gives it that "positive" feeling. I just do a lot of stop and go driving. I just want to see one of these cars launch hard at the green, that's all. :P

Ehhh. Most clutch jobs will run nearer to $1000 simply due to shops charging book labor.

AT FRS hardest launch I could get yet. 0-60 run. And I don't know about other AT owners, but you can brake stand this car like a motherfucker if you learn the pedals right.
