Rest in peace driver side side marker

Hi all,

So I have been using my car as intended and may have hit a certain orange cone going at speed. The result is that the plastic tab that holds in the side marker is completely broken (I taped the darn thing in for now). There is also magically a chip in the finish on the literal tiny corner of the front fender that the XPel clearbra didn't cover (OEM touch up paint pen took care of that)

I see that people are using zip-ties and all kinds of creative ways to keep their side marker in there once they come loose.

I instead opted to just buy a factory replacement, since I found that you could get one side new for under 30 bucks.

TL;DR/Question: Will a new side marker housing be secure (well, as secure as this outgoing one got wrecked) and contain all of the clips I need?

A new one should be fine, until it pops out and breaks the tab again from something else.

The mounting tabs are by no means durable. Don't be surprised to come across this again.

I had one pop out on mrs humfrz's car (tab broke). I just glued it back in place. So far, so good, after 2 years -

Thanks my guy! May reach out to you in a few months. Funds running low so I don't want to deal with having to buy two new clear housing + two new amber bulbs (I am a sheep and like to follow the law)

So OEM amber housing is going to do for now.

Mine are held in with 3m double sided tape. I also painted (misted lightly) my OEM ones with just enough paint to look solid in the day, and thin enough to shine through at night. It's an old trick...

Off topic but that's an awesome touch!

OP: I've been through at least 4 pairs of side markers with my FRS . A new set should work just fine!

Did the same thing for a while with 3M tape, the clips are so crappy, especially on non OEM helix sidemarkers. Bought jdm ones and a few hours before install added a little super glue to the where the tabs insert in and haven't had any issues ever. Even went through like 3-4 just as @eastendraceshop did and my last pair have lasted for the last 3 years.

Also had the same issue where it scratched the fender up when it came off, and just buffed it out:

I have given up on running side markers. The clips rarely survive bumper removal or off track incidents.
