I'm sure the duckbill can easily be removed. Don't fret so much...

it just looks like the premium duckbill just sits on top of existing plastic duckbill. i have a feeling there will be holes on the premium duckbill. it might be best to remove both the upper and lower bills and swap that as one piece.

So no, its not an option. But potentially it could be removed - hard to tell.
John Camissa has said that the standard spoiler on GEN II "the small one" is supposed to be plastic. It is a separate piece from the trunk. It seems they did that specifically to make it easier to mod the trunk. You can see the cut lines for it. You likely unscrew it from inside the trunk.

But yea, how they mount the extended spoiler is still a mystery. I believe the extended spoiler is only offered in NA.

Looking at how they mounted GEN 1 spoilers you might end up with several holes.

My guess is that to remove it, you will have to remove the standard spoiler, then lay it upside down to get inside of of it to remove some clips or screws, but you will have holes in the standard spoiler.

Unless they used 3M tape, which would surprise me.

Check out 50:10 in this video:

Looks like the whole spoiler piece of the trunk is attached to the rest of the trunk with pop clips:

My guess is that the main trunk piece has a large cutout where different spoilers can be installed, rather than just holes in metal?
You can see that the Blitz folks installed a non-ducktail end of the trunk, which I like.
I don't know if they made a custom one, or it's available in JDM.

The original ducktail piece includes the black horizontal line between the taillights, and the mounting location for the rear view camera.
Looks like Toyota/Subaru designed it in such a way to allow more aftermarket options;
the real question is if and when aftermarket is going to make some nice options.

Trunk rear section is removable with 25 plastic pins and few screws. It does house the rear camera and trunk lid opener switch so, replacing it will need some sort of mounts for these devices.

The Blitz flat trunk is their own part of the body kit. Factory panels are all duck tail

Neat! Great find!

You can really change the backend just by swapping that trunk piece since it takes the black piece too. Didn't realize it would be that easy.

I wonder how many people will want to flatten the trunk to look more like the current gen versus people that put a big duckbill on it.

That is one of my favorite design elements of the new 86. I’m a sucker for duckbill/ducktail spoilers. Toyota nailed it with the new Supra also.

Subaru EPA numbers rated:

https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymake/Subaru2022.shtml

2022 BRZ
Auto- 21/30/25
6MT - 20/27/22

2020 BRZ
Auto - 24/33/27
6MT - 21/29/24
Ts - 20/27/23

Assuming GR86 will be the same. However, with different throttle tuning, who knows. Maybe it takes a hit.

Should be the same even with different throttle tuning. Just depends how heavy your foot is, and it'll need to be lighter in the GR86. MPG's look good!

They list all the forthcoming GR Accessories.

Pretty much the same as the TRD parts originally offered with the FR-S.

Remote start and other features? I wonder if AT-only.
