My office gives me a 17 Corolla as a loaner when I am in town. (I had a 15 Corolla before my 86) I would like to have a new Rav4, but if the adaptive cruise control and braking on the Corolla are the new norm for Toyota/ auto industry I will be driving my current cars for the rest of my life.

The Rav4 keeps getting larger. I guess they are serious about making it their number one selling vehicle. Plus they seem to have a fleet of smaller suvs coming as well.

That's true - forgot about Lexus. I wonder why Toyota didn't just throw that into the new RAV4. Maybe wanted to maintain some separation between it and the NX300...

Yeah, I'm not sure. I always assumed it's because Toyota sells less Lexus cars, so should there be a recall due to the engine, it would be less cars???

There needs to be some exclusivity with the Lexus line. Camrys and ravs are appliances.

Yeah definitely strange. I read somewhere that Toyota thinks it can be "competitive" with its NA engines (in terms of power) vs. other competitors' turbo engines. I think that's correct just looking at peak HP numbers, but area under the curve shows a different story. Hard to match the low/midrange punch of a small turbo.
