NT05R (can you wide body the rear and cut fender to fit a 315/35R17?) go read reviews of nt555r vs nt05r, people spinning the 555r switching to 05r dead hooking. It’s a much softer tire.

2 way adjustable coilover, setup for maximum weight transfer.

Put 1 or 2 45lbs weight plates in the trunk, you can use the spare tire spot and spare tire bolt spot to secure it. Weight directly over the rear tire even only 90lbs will help a lot in many ways, weight transfer, front to rear weight balance, and just static weight over the wheel. You don’t need to add 500lbs to make a difference if it’s all directly over the tire.
Can also battery relocate to trunk to further help weight front/rear distribution

Rear spoiler, Rear diffuser, side skirts, flat bottom panels, will help traction a little at speeds.

Once all that’s done your kind of SOL if it’s still not hooking and will need to turn her down.

So from what i'm gathering, I need better suspension (currently running tein flex z which are allegedly 6k spring rate F & R). Maybe add some more weight to the trunk area (battery already relocated to trunk). And fine tuning of traction control. A rear end swap would definitely be helpful for a lower ratio, but it's not really affordable and i'm trying to avoid it if possible.

I already have a small hot side on the turbo, the bigger issue is I am limited to torque management due to the small hotside. It has a lot of torque, really early in the rpm band and with a small hotside it's hard to circumvent this. I don't want ugly over fenders, nor do I want a widebody. It's not my taste, I love the stock body on the 86's.

I will give a few of these recommendations a try. One final question, for street driving, would a 2 way coilover really make such a huge difference? Rather than getting a nicer 1 way set of coilovers. Since street conditions often change, and the car really wont see a prepped strip much, if ever. Any recommendations for spring rates and coilover brands/specs?

I brought it up for output comparisons, not tire comparisons. Nice context switcharoo though.

What do you make at wastegate pressure?

Yes, good coilovers make a HUGE difference, but is not the answer for what you want here. The answer is tires, period.

That makes zero sense given the context, Nice back pedal though.

Name a better streetable tire that won’t kill you going 40 in the rain?

MT ET street SS might arguably be better, maybe.

Both are way better than his 555r either way.

Alot of it also has to do with sidewall as well. More wall is only going to help, I don't see anyone in NHRA running low pros...for a reason. I had my car tuned at full-blown motorsports, ran into some issues but they got a decent 93oct tune at 12lbs. Running a 6766 I put down 470/350 if I recall correctly. With traction control on the car still pulls pretty good and allows a little bit of slip. Not sure if they touched TC settings at all or if that's what came with the tune from pure. I'm not putting down nearly as much as you but first and second were pointless when the turbo lit without TC. Switching to mickey's and 15s made a world of difference, also havnt drove with them in the rain.

Gate pressure is about 15psi.

Also, I compared 275/40r17 vs a 255/50r16 tire and the sidewall is hardly any taller. I would need to go to a drastic 60 wall or taller with a 15" wheel which means my 2 pot calipers have to go. And wheel options on 5x100 are absolutely atrocious which makes things harder.

@CSG Mike Do you think a Mickey et street S/S or R888R would be better than my NT555R? In the same 275/40r17 size

Like I mentioned above, MT ET Street SS or Nitto NT05R are you’re best two options for the street and not instant death in rain. Both are a lot better than the NT555R. R888R is more comparable to the tire you have.

Both are light years better, but R888R's can result in hop if you're not combining it with proper TCS. The R888R is only popular because it comes in every size known to man.

It's not just about sidewall height but also about tire construction.

I can post about 500 reviews comparing the NT05R and MT ET Street SS with no clear cut winner both being very comparable.

Earlier i recommended NT05R
Said these type of tires need a lot of heat before they can hook
Recommended aero for helping hook 4th+ gear (every bit helps)
And you may still end up having to turn the power down once you’ve tried everything else.
And in another post about proper coilover/suspension setup.

And apparently none of that was correct in your mind.

But now you’re saying The MT ET street SS is light years better than his tire...
And a few posts back said a proper suspension/coilover will make a huge difference.

What’s next you’re going to say these type of tires need heat to hookup?

Just contradict every post you make lol.

The point is you essentially said no you’re wrong without actually providing anything to prove why, but then also later proceeded to basically repeat or suggest what I already said even though you stated it was wrong.

Try 50/50 caramel and pine tar with two dabs of JB Weld. Rub it all over the tires. Will hook an Elise on 185 Primacy HPs at 1000tq all day long. Gas mileage will be shit though and don’t drive off road with it or your tires will look like a caramel apple with nuts. Don’t ask me how I know.
