Based on the shape of the hidden badge on the lower right corner of the trunk, could this be the GR/GT86 (Toyota) version? You can clearly see the round part of the badge that makes up the "86" logo. As for the left of the badge, I'm leaning more towards "GR" instead of "GT" mainly due to the parallelogram-ish shape but I suppose both "GR" and "GT" can form the same shape (especially underneath the wrap).

Also, isn't that the TRD exhaust?

Theres no GR version...its likely a name change to GR86 as rumored.
The Supra also has a GR badge on the back, its officially named the GR Supra, but no one starts with GR...they just call it supra.

That's the stock exhaust on 2016+ cars. Maybe 2015.

I caught that too. I'm guessing that it will say GR86, but not sure about the design. The square black and red GR badge wouldn't look good next to the chrome and circular 86 logo.

Not really a pro on tires but do those look like Michelin Pilot Sport 4's?
If those are then it looks like the whole platform is moving more toward what the BRZ tS is all about.

Those brakes are small. There is no turbo.

That is what I said in the other "first look" thread. These are a lot better images then the video that was posted.

Maybe this is just a GR body kit for existing GT86's and Toyota is pulling an epic troll job on the internet

The real problem with the brakes is you can't see the pads.

I have a feeling those fender vents and the vents on the sides of the grille are functional. These pictures were taken of an earlier 86 prototype and it looks like it has the same front grille vents and similar fender vents. I'm assuming they'd only test that car with those vents in place if they were functional?

I wonder if that strip on the trunk is going to be a light bar or just some black/chrome trim

I see:
-tire upgrade
-fins under the rear diffuser
-reduced fender gap
-similar sized brakes (similar power+no weight increase?)
-no intercooler

I get the feeling that they are going for more of a grip set up this time around, not so much the slippy slidy characteristics of the original. Oh and no turbo . Sorry kids.

I find the fact that they are benchmarking an ecoboost interesting. Especially considering it appears the 86 is staying NA. I guess they're looking at it more holistically as an overall package? Makes me think they are really trying to attract more of the North American market.

Yeah, all this does is confirm that they didn't listen to the real fans and put translucent calipers.
