It was great being at the track with the Norcal86 crew! Love the support we all give one another, whether it's helping find a better line or limping a car back home.

I didn't record times for every session but my PB for the ones that I did was 1:34:71. My laps were pretty consistent, so that's good. Plus, I learned to dial out understeer by adjusting my dampers a bit.

There's a ton of video to go through but for now, I leave you with this:

@mkivsoopra - thanks. Smooth is what I was after on Sunday. My previous car was an AT, so this was my first track day in a manual. Also first time tracking the new '17 BRZ.

Things I learned:
1. Heel-toe is easier on the track than on the street. Smashing on the brakes makes the pedals more even. The Cusco accelerator pedal cover is also helpful. I also found that I prefer wearing driving shoes to my usual Chuck Taylors.
2. Brembo brakes with Ferodo DS2500 pads are a very nice setup for me. Again, couldn't quite tell what the capabilities were until I got on track. Very happy with the brakes, and I'm sure there's some time to be made up with braking.
3. GT Radial SX2 tires don't feel quite as grippy as my former MPSS, but they are more communicative. Braking a little sooner, and being careful about turning in too sharply were needed.
4. The Sachs dampers have the body control of my old setup, which was stock dampers and RCE Yellows, but they're still very comfortable. I'm sure I can go faster over the berms in T1 and T3.
5. Track Mode on the 2017 is great! Just the right amount of dorifto for me to learn the limits of traction. Nannies only kicked in a couple of times, and it felt fine.

I was running consistent 1:37 laps when traffic cleared at the end of the day. I'm sure there are still a couple of seconds to shave now that I'm more used to the new setup.

Question:
1. I'm taking a more inside line on turn 6, braking late, and staying in 4th gear up the hill towards 7. Then I shift 4-3, and 3-2 before turn 7. Other strategies here?

Resource:
I found Ian Korf's guide to Thunderhill West to be really helpful. Posting the video below for other folks to check out:

Being your BRZ is a '17 with the performance package, it would be great if you can keep going with track-related posts. Maybe make a separate thread, etc??? Great feedback BTW, straight to the point.

I think everyone tracking should have their own thread to see progress, feedbacks, etc. You guys had a big group this past weekend. Great job!

@BigFatFlip - Yeah, I wanted to check out your car, too! But we would have had to sacrifice a session to make the ride along thing happen.

@MyRx - Glad the 17 BRZ PP comments are of interest! I'm probably too low key to have my own thread. But I will keep posting occasionally.

... and all you guys should be coming out on NorCal 86 CUP days too! It's fine if you don't feel comfortable competing yet. You get more company and more technical advice/support, in general!

Eventually. Could only fit in one more this year and couldnt pass up $165 for 7 sessions lol.

I'll be looking for that 2018 schedule

Had a lot of fun at Thunderhill West with Exclusive Track Days on 10/29. Was exciting to test out all of the new mods since my last track day. Made it feel like a completely different car! Fastest time of the day was a 1.32.000 exactly using harry's lap timer.

I'm slowly getting the track footage up but here is the first of many and I wanted to share.

My fastest lap isn't in this video and my helmet cam did end up dying during this session.
