Rev when starting ? (Possible and why ?)

A quick question for everyone !
I added this in the software tunning because I assume it's a simple stting, but why do some cars do a rev when you start it up ? Most supercar and hypercar do that, but my neighbors Lexus does that. I know it probably does nothing, other than to make for a cool startup but I was wondering why the twins doesn't do it and if adding it is an option (since there's an option to lower startup revs). Cheers !

It warms up the cats. They aren't very efficient when cold.

most new cars do to some degree or another. How high the cold start idle is set and for how long the cold start idle period is, is something that can be edited in tuning, provided that a tuning solution is available for the particular vehicle in question.

But lets say id want it to do a .5 sec rev climb to 5000rpm to enjoy the beauty of my soon-to-be exhaust, it should be doable

Though I disagree with your logic on wanting an initial rev sooo high on a cold engine, whereas all the oil would be in the oil pan....

To answer your question.. Yes its possible to set the initial "cold start rev point" to whatever rpm you want, just find the correct table for that function and edit it, or ask your tuner to edit it for you if you aren't self tuning. I just don't know the correct name for the table to edit off hand.

Maybe not 5000 just looked at my cluster and it's too dramatic, but maybe like a 0.5 sec kick to 2500 rpm to hear the engine growl

Have you heard about that new technology. It's square, on the floor and to the right. You can press it and noise comes out. Try this one day if you really want to annoy your neighbors that much

Also, reving on cold oil...yeaaaaah, no.

Also, depending on your exhaust, it won't sound good until it's warmer. So if it revs like that on cold start and you're hoping it'll sound good, it might sound airy and raspy.
