Do you have an Open Flash Tablet? If so, the Stage 2 uel tune was written with a car using the open flash header. Makes sense to buy that one to me.

I know which one performs better since one of our earlier OFH prototypes had a merge similar design to the Tomei.

Kind of a blanket statement...what does "performs better" mean?

Tons of customer dynos. Drift Office also has a nice writeup on it too. Just ask any of the major tuners what they think about the JDL UEL and its all positives. Still one of, if not, the highest performing UEL out there. Lifetime warranty, coating options, and very high quality. Just comes with a price.

Not to mention the header is where the highest gains come from N/A outside of changing over to E85. It's a very important part to have done right when tuning.

@ckim suggest you read basic bolt on mod guide link below

you will need a tune to get best results from header , budget for a tune and header package

@ckim

As both @steve99 and @Takumi788 have mentioned. Either header would be a good choice, but I would choose the OFH if you plan on tuning with an OpenFlashTablet. You'll need a tune to get the most from your new header. Also you'll earn OF Dollars to lower the price of your OFH.

Almost everything over $500 I've seen on this board are well made and tracked on dozens of cars just on this board. As far as the "high end" goes, keep in mind most catless headers produce the similar power numbers, so don't over spend just to hit a certain brand. The two you've mentioned are solid. Alternatively don't under spend (which it doesn't look like you intend to) because you could end up with quality (not power) issues.

Thanks All.

Just to fill you guys in -- I have the OFT and plan to run the Stage 2 UEL 91 octane tune. If I stop being lazy I'll try out the e85 tune.

Tomei UEL might be more convenient since I can buy and have it installed in one shot locally, but I'm currently leaning towards the OFH and installing it myself. I've been doing the modding thing since 2000 (had a JRSC'ed Integra GS-R), but I've gotten older and lazier in the 15 years since and am tempted to just let someone else do the work for me.

actually DO recommends the tomei as it yielded the best mid range torque and almost matched the HKS EL header in peak HP and at around the 650 mark is really good bang for your buck.

if i recall his numbers he got 192HP with the Tomei, 188 with the JDL UEL and 182 with the borla UEL and for reference, 195 with the HKS. all numbers are on pump gas (92)
