The majority of failures happen before 1000 miles. The spreadsheet in the registry thread has a few documented failures between 4000 and 5000 miles after the recall though.

So after a mini heart attack with murderous rage I drove it back. A quick look over from the mechanic it was back to normal.

After that car runs like new everything feels tight. I was super paranoid for the first 20 miles, every little rattle or noise got to me. But not any more.

Now for what they did:
They did the recall work but I was informed when I picked it up that they had trouble with exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter. Apparently they broke off the studs so I got a new cat and manifold.

So far about 100 miles zero issues.
I'll report back every 1000 miles with either good or bad news. But I'm confident the work was done right.
Just keep repeating this to yourself and you’ll begin believing it!

Is it just that a majority of the failures will occur before 1000 miles... or is it also that many people don’t put a ton of miles on their twin and so enough time hasn’t passed since the recall work for many drivers to have accumulated enough miles to see if engines are failing later?

Good point, 5000miles is a year or more for a lot of twins!

Update time!
I just hit 1000 miles and change. No problems or issues yet.
I been driving it normal since then.

Knock on wood but wouldn't it suck balls if it crapped out on me in the next 100 miles?

I picked my car up this Friday gone (28th June 2019). I asked the garage whether it needed a 'running-in' period. The answer was a firm no!

I like the garage as they have had no issues with the non-OEM parts and tune that I have on my car. They're happy seeing my car once a year for a service and MoT. And, were okay installing the non-OEM engine/transmission mounts at zero cost. God bless them!
