With my turbo setup, I am most likely going to want to implement some sort of overboost protection to prevent an unplanned spontaneous disassembly of my motor. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head about how to accomplish this. None seem very ideal however. I know the WRX's and STI's have a fuel cut off value defined in their roms. I havn't found anything similar yet in the defined maps we have so far. Am I missing something. If not, what do you think would be a good way of going about implementing such a setup?

Either that or a specified manifold pressure value.

I'm sure one could patch in a hard cut into the rom. I've been digging through it for a bit in IDA already, looking around. I need to get comfortable with the SuperH architecture before I am confident in making any changes.

Curious if there is an (easier) way to implement it with the stock rom.

could you use port/mrp table to cut fuel above a certain map value? i'm kinda wondering the same thing and that was my first thought when i looked at it. not sure if that's an incredibly stupid idea or not, though. @mad_sb would probably know best.

I just added DTC limits for MAF and MAP voltages to the OpenFlash XDF file I'm working on now. With the next map release, I'll include these updates as well.

you definitely don't want to use the max maf value as that clips the maf reading to the max value so if you go beyond the max maf value, the ecu's internal load calc gets clipped while the real load continue to go up = not enough fuel and too much timing.

I'll have to look at the other values next week after i get settled in my new place.

In terms of using what we have now, I wonder if you could use the torque limiting somehow. Change the calculated torque at a certain grams/sec load so that torque limits kick in?

I wonder what the effects of a super late ignition value in a load ranges past normal operation would be. Probably something akin to some of the pseudo "anti-lag" systems. Lot's of noise and fire out the tailpipe. Either that or a misfire. Probably not too good for the turbo or o2 sensors. Maybe effective to reduce cylinder pressure during an overboost condition though? It would definitely get your attention. Realistically I would want a full fuel cut though.
