Started tearing the old bitch down... Time to build the block; why not, right? Of course since I wanted to do this on my day off, it had to be 10 degrees out. Hopefully by summer I'll have all the money saved up for it

Got a pic? I've thought about doing this myself (carbon fiber vinyl). I want to use a red/black wrap carbon fiber wrap but haven't been able to find one I'm happy with. I want it mostly black with a red accent thread. Can find it in actual cloth but haven' been able to find it in Vinyl.

Rebuilding the engine is the hardest thing you can do on this car. Will you do machining to upgrade oil pump as well? Good luck to you.

I might do the reimax gear just for peace of mind, nothing else though. I'm not planning on making much if any more power, I just want to lower the amount of things that may fail.

I'm sure rebuilding the block is easier than getting the timing cover off. It's 12 degrees F here and even with a propane torch, I can't get the fujibond to let go. I've given up for today after spending 2 hours trying to pry it off and breaking one of the ears

I would also replace those so-called "safe" valve springs. Mine failed outside recall. It is a lot of work to take out the engine again just for valve springs.

That's for starting a project like that in the winter in Vermont.

Bubba suggests you put an electric space heater under the front of the engine and let it run on LO all night. Next morning take out the bolt for the timing cover that you didn't see before, then pop the cover off.

This is why I swapped the LS instead of rebuilding the boxer. I didn't think I could reliably fix the boxer, but I knew I could swap a motor... And I'm sure I can rebuild the LS when the time comes

Lightened my car slightly by cracking off the passenger-side visor. Quality Toyota parts.

You know, I don't think I've ever used either of my visors.

Due to the direction and times of my commute I get the rising or setting sun straight in the face for much of the year. I use both visors on a very regular basis.

Mine is the exact opposite (west in the morning, east in the evening)
