sorry, i should've been more specific.

how does an air intake require maf rescaling?

perrins site specifically says the exact opposite, even saying "NO TUNING REQUIRED":

Increase horsepower and style under your hood. The PERRIN Cold Air Intake (CAI) system uses proper MAF alignment and tubing size, which are crucial for maintaining safe air-fuel ratios and preventing knock and check engine lights that plague competitors.

Relocating the MAF seems to be a big part of the issue. Sensor has harder time reading volume of air going to the engine which causes scaling issues.

Some intakes are worse than others.

I think op is talking about the intake hose only, not an entire intake system. So the location of maf would not have been altered.

Garage
The inlet hose didn't effect maf scaling on my car.

The posted Perrin maf scales are garbage BTW. Neither was remotely close for my car, had to do it the old fashion way.
