Perrin cold air intake details! Words of wisdom?
Hey all!
I just got my Perrin cold air intake today in the mail and decided to get it into my car right when I got home. I assembled it just right and looks nice. My concerns are whether I need a tune, seeing as though they "claim" it does not need one. And if so, where should I look? No CELs or anything. I got to play around with it a little today and it almost seems as though I've lost some power when I punch it. Reasonings? Or am I just being anal? (I previously had just stock intake). Appreciate the feedback guys |

After you've checked for leaks...disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes. Reconnect the battery then drive around like a bat out of hell.
The car will then relearn aif/fuel trims for the next 50 miles or so...then you should feel the difference. |

The problem I also have is that there is non of that growl sound? It's as if I didn't even install anything lol... Is that the inlet housing that makes the mean deep growl? I was positive that the CAI did that? I have no sound output either.

Unless you mean just go for a long drive when you said "like a bat out of hell".

Did you change or remove the sound tube? It could be that the perrin intake doesn't resonate as much as as a traditional air box. Or it could be that the airflow is smoother and does't resonate through the sound tube as well.

I believe the Perrin intake deletes the sound tube.

You can keep the stock inlet and sound tube with it.

Had the same issue your are having after installing my Perrin, just drive it a few days the ecu will figure it out. I drive almost 100 miles a day to and from work, it took 2 or 3 days before it felt right. Now it feels a lot better and has a nice sound when you step on it. I do not have the sound tube anymore.

Seems right, I wouldn't expect more than a 2-5HP gain, if that. Not something you could detect.

Oops - I was thinking of the inlet tube. Perrin even includes a little plastic cap to cover up the hole on your firewall.
