So I did my little walkabout Thursday downtown & a trip Friday to the islands to see some practice sessions.
Willl be enjoying the race from home in a comfortable sofa away from the crowds and beers and Hot dogs are not 11$@.

Some Picts :

Downtown shopping:

Double parked:

The Business area:

Support race crew :

Max to the Max from my 2nd row seat, it was unanimous we moved on elseware after the P1 was cancelled, any view was better than behind a fence..

Found a small crowded GA spot to pass the rest of the afternoon for the long P2.
Alonso :

Norris :

Hamilton :

I got home quite wet.

The stands are always full here. For the locals and many northern US visitors after passing
the last 4 months inside hiding from the cold & snow this is the start of our summer!

Or maybe they just wanted to see how it felt being on a podium sharing in on some Champagne?

Great WC podium today,

Good fight by Albon.

Well it wasn't that bad of a race. Albon on 7th, and 30laps leading the DRS train. Splendid job.

Hamilton commenting "He had a slow reaction" about Alonso losing 2nd at the start, and Alonso just cracking up next to him was a wholesome moment.

Good too see that both Mercedes and A.M are ever so slightly reducing the gap to the R.B, but had it not been for the S.C, the gap would've been close to 20 seconds if not more, considering that just from the start, withing the first turns, the gap was already more than a second. The R.B is just an absolute rocket.

Perez needs to pick himself up, Daniel is prowling for his seat.

Kind of weird how Stroll and Alonso seem to be in two different cars.

The pessimist in me is inclined to believe RB pit wall said "Just get it home in 1 piece Max" towards the end of the race, particularly when he said 'nearly binned the car there', so he wasn't gunning for the usual 20+ second lead. Or maybe AM are picking up the pace, which as an Alonso fan would be great news

Did I miss something or misunderstand a rule? How did Perez start the sprint in P2?

That was my question as well this morning!

I was not aware they had a Sprint shootout this morning before the race,
never noticed that on the schedule yesterday after the Quali.

PER will be starting 15 for tomorrow’s race.

I don’t remember the Sprint & race grid being so confusing.

The sprint today was good with the rain mixing up the field and
gave some good midfield fights for position.

Winner of today’s race : track limit infringements.

“The stewards also added that they “very strongly recommend” that a solution be found to the track limits at the Spielberg circuit.”

8 new infringements awarded AFTER the race!

Either just put a gravel/sand trap at the popular infringed corners or maybe some spikes outside of the line …

Norris did good and claimed driver of the day.

Checo reeled them in.

Max decided winning was not good enough and decided to peel in for some fresh rubber for the fastest lap point as well, Want a hamburger with that while U wait Max?

There seems to be issues brewing between MAG & DEV…

Safe to say he's enjoying himself. So fast he can afford an extra pitstop to squeeze out that extra point... also testament to RB's pit crew being on top of it and not botching the extra last minute stop.

Nice to see Perez work his way back up to a podium after a pretty dismal rest of the weekend. Hope he gets back into better form moving forward.

I still do not like or understand the appeal of the sprint qualifying, sprint shootout, and sprint race. Not sure if I'm missing why it's supposed to be better, but I just prefer standard format.

What a day. I laughed, I cried, I got frustrated and yelled at the TV and that was just the pit walk!
Would have been another great race if not for the stewards inability to be consistent with their enforcement of the rules. I disagree with Gasly's version of Stroll's pass. As shown on Sky TV Lance was clearly fully beside him through most of the corner. In fact he was an end plate ahead before Gasly's lack of respect for the rules forced him off.

As far as Lance causing a collision I disagree with Karun's (and the stewards) interpretation of what happened when. To my eyes I saw what Lance saw, an open door. However Gasly shut it while Stroll was mostly beside him and was forced off. But that's just me.
