7 years now, and if you don't touch the header it'll still pass the new style e-test easily. The primary cat is in the header, the secondary cat doesn't get tested by the ECU at all. If you got catless it *could* fail a visual inspection if they look, but I highly doubt they'll be putting the car on a hoist to look, any e-test I've seen they barely look at anything.

I have the q300 with catless front and motiv overpipe. Sounds perfect. I listened to all the exhaust vids at he time I purchased over and over and over did not like canister exhaust sound. Landed on the the q300)from ft86speedfactory.com. the motiv over pipe added a slight boxer rumble

What other ways to make it louder if its not as loud as I like?
It will break in give it time. It loudens to a perfect tone

The step from a Q300 to an N1 is a HUGE difference in sound lol

cold starts in the morning at 6am are brutal..... My roommate said he can hear me leaving and driving away from 2 mins after i leave.

but theres no denying the N1 tone! Its gorgeous.

Is the difference between a catless and catted front pipe substantial?

I'm wavering on exhaust, but plan on purchasing a Revoworks UEL, perrin overpipe and catted frontpipe. I don't mind if it's a little on the loud side, but I don't want my neighbors eyes to roll everytime I leave in the morning.

In videos I always seem to favor the N1 over the Q300, but I know that videos are misleading.

Catted will be quieter and less raspy. Since you're going with a catless header, I would really suggest a catted front pipe and resonated mid pipe to keep the rasp and drone down. The N1 with a catless header and catless front pipe will be REALLY loud and raspy.

I just installed the q300 with catless front pipe. definetly inside the cabin you cant barely hear it. from the ouside its noticable with a deep and nice boxer tone.

While driving i cant really hear the difference, i keep listeing more the engine sound rather and the catback. Im not sure if other people outside can hear it while im driving.

I guess once it breaks in itll get a bit more louder?

I've put 1,000 miles so far on my q300, and I don't feel it's any louder. I have a JDL uel on the way, and that's why I bought the Q300 to start with, in anticipation of getting headers. You can't hear the exhaust much (as in not even 10%) louder than stock inside, but it is a lot deeper, which was something I wanted.

Just installed my q300 today with invidia cat less front pipe and honestly the cold start is the loudest sound it makes. Maybe its just me but you barely hear any difference inside the car. Maybe outside you get more sound but i haven't had a chance to really listen to it from the outside because I'm the driver lol. Overall it has a deeper tone and is maybe 10% louder than stock. Can anyone confirm if it gets louder over time or does it just stay this quiet?

Anyone have a video/soundclip of (or similar to) a Q300 + nameless op/fp (+hemholtz preferably) + Tomei UEL headers? Or at least can comment on the noise levels and daily drive-ability?

I have a Nameless Axleback with this setup and it is just too awesome (AKA way too loud). I've put the OEM axleback back on and it sounds like utter crap, but it's quiet at least (for the most part).

I'm hoping to bring the noise levels down to before I added the header (or even quieter).

The Q300 is the perfect exhaust to get, if you're planning on doing a catless header in the future.

On the stock header it's slightly deeper than stock, but still sounds good. With an aftermarket catless header on the Q300 comes alive and sounds fantastic.

This is my car. There's a bit of wind so you'll need to turn the volume up.

Q300 catback, stock front and overpipe with Tomei UEL.
