The hell it is. A license plate is actually government property, nothing else is.. Dafuq?

I thought this thread was a joke. A badge is just fucking marketing, that is all. Usually when I take home a vehicle, I immediately debadge everything, because it's my car and I don't get paid by the manufacturer for their marketing labels. Now this FR-S is the first car I've ever rebadged before. If I got a fine for changing a marketing symbol on my properly registered vehicle with correct VIN, color, license plate, and tag info, I'd kill it with a blazing fire.

I'm searching Google and only coming up with here-say and anecdotal bullshit. Someone show me the regulatory law that states this is illegal.

Please show us a source (other than some crap from another forum) showing it is illegal anyplace in North America. I will accept a copy of the court ruling with all identifying info blocked out.
The ONLY legally required id affixed to the car is the VIN number.

@continuecrushing where are you coming up with this? Did you see the ticket? How well do you know this person and/or the supposed judge? I hope modbargains doesn't spread this kind of info... the fines don't even reach that high when you tamper with emissions or get caught with forged registration.

Edit: I've searched similar threads on Chrysler forums, Hyundai, and Lexus. The closest I could get was someone's dad putting a Bentley symbol on an elantra and when a cop ran the plates he saw Hyundai and assumed someone stole a Bentley cause he doesn't know one car from another. Still no fine was issued though. No real evidence anywhere, just people playing telephone with bullshit. What will they think of next
