Horizontal Oil Cooler in Conjunction with Edelbrock's LTR

Finally got around to making a protective cover for my horizontal oil cooler setup. (More info) I played with different designs with louvers but in the end I decided to keep it simple. It's main function is to protect the cooler from getting smacked by a foreign object like a cone during autocross or truck tire debris on the highway. So it ended up being a flat mesh cover.

Some Shots of the Oil Cooler before the Cover:

Made out of 14ga aluminum Sheet:

Powder coated textured black:

Wow! The finished product looks great! I wish I had the equipment to make stuff like this!

Thanks! I am lucky enough to have access to certain equipment at work to make toys like these. However, I am envious of your personal garage. Now that's a life goal!

It is plasma cut. Which gets the job done, but I wish we had a laser or waterjet in my department.

Looks pretty dang good for plasma, just probably took some cleaning?

I have a 2013 FRS with 37k miles and well maintained but looking for more power. Is this kit available? And if so do you know any authorized dealers in Houston, TX that can install this for me and tune? Not sure if it matters but we have 93 Octane here which I currently use.

The factory supplied tune would do you just fine

Per Edelbrock, you have an Edelbrock installer local to you. However, based on their website, I would suspect they've never done a FRS/BRZ before.

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/...ealer-locator/

1 - SERIOUS HP
5858 Cunningham Road
Houston, TX 77041
Phone: (713) 937-3099
Email: mail@serioushp.com
Website: www.serioushp.com

We'll be more than happy to ship you a kit if you have a local mechanic you trust to do the installation, or have a mechanically inclined friend who can help you install the kit over a weekend.

Yeah it looks like Serious HP is more of a Domestic shop and haven't touched a FRS/BRZ. I also found these shops which I can call and see what they would charge.

I live in an apartment so I'm really not ready to tear the car down in the parking garage. Rather have a Edelbrock dealer install it for me so I don't have to mess with anything besides driving and maintaining it.

None of those are showing up under "installer", only "jobber/dealer".

Yeah you're right. I just called them all and they said they don't do installs and nobody has an idea of where to go. I'd really like to keep the work in Houston if possible and get the warranty that comes along with a installer job.

Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but you're out of mileage for the drive-train warranty (36k), which is what requires a qualifying install. The warranty on the Edelbrock product(s) itself will be valid even if you install yourself.

That doesn't change the apartment situation though. Been there done that

You know, I didn't think of that. Maybe it's best to do a self-install or find a Houston FT86 person with a garage that we can install together. I'm sure there's videos and instruction manuals that I can follow?

There's a good video on youtube (I think by Titan Motorsports) I've watched (I will be buying at some point this year, just getting educated) that would probably be a great companion to what I hear are really good printed instructions.

You will be losing out a bit on power I think, since the tune is for CARB/91, but I doubt it's that severe if the rest of your car is stock. We have 93 down here in FL too, so I'll be in the same boat. I'll probably run the Edelbrock tune for a while before upgrading the rest of the exhaust and getting a custom tune (and maybe E85, but I think that requires pump and injector upgrades with the SC, so we'll see)
