Why I am buying a BRZ
I currently own a 2008 335i coupe/6mt ssk/ sports/ no run flats. It is a very very competent car, but little FUN factor.
I really want a car that every time I go to the store/beach/etc. I feel like Mario. I have owned two Miatas NA and NB. So the ND is a natural choice. If it ever arrives. I have driven the boxster, so a CPO Porsche was on the list. BMW is coming out with a new 1 coupe renamed the 2. I am on that forum also. The new 3 has grown in size and price. And I also have a thoughts of a redesigned Z, new RSX-S, but it may be many years before that happens. But the philosophy of the BRZ has struck a chord with me. A simply machine, with a huge fun factor, that is very nice in and out. I like the reliability, and because of the price I will be able to take it anywhere and not be a garage queen. And with a trunk and fold down seats, it fits my real love. http://www.grandprixsw.com/2008/phot...e__DSC1602.jpg |

I wouldn't expect a redesigned Z for a couple more years since they just released the 370 in 2009. I agree with you completely on the philosophy of the BRZ/FT-86/FR-S, if all of the info that is leaking out does indeed come true it seems to be a great all around machine that can both be practical and fun for avid car lover.

Are you on Bimmerpost? I am. The 2 Series will be a nice car, espacially for daily driving as it will come with a good 2.0l I4 Turbo with 245 PS, reflashed 300 PS. It will be nicely luxury and comfortable yet fast and fun, but never as fun as the BRZ. If you can, get the BRZ and then add a 228i F22. But the new Boxster is going to be a very sexy car, next Boxster/Cayman are to be the most beautiful Porsches, without talking about the Carrera GT.

The philosophy behind the BRZ has intrigued me as well. I am eagerly awaiting the finished product to add to my garage.

http://2009.feltracing.com/09/images...og/xl/8918.png I believe this car will meet your expectations based on what the overall goals that Toyota and Subaru have initially set; low cost, fun to drive, low cog in a FR compact. I really wished they offered a hatch as oppose to a trunk but I would think a roof rack would be a better way to haul a road bike.

After retiring I worked in a bike shop. Yes like a junkie getting free cocaine.
Putting a high price bike on top or hanging off the back is a bad idea. Trust me, in the car is the safest place for you bike. I am glad to see some BMW owners on this site. BRZ could be the way to go! |

I think this thing will feel really slow if you're used to driving a 335i. If you are able to afford CPO Caymans you might be better off waiting for a more powerful version that is sure to follow the initial 200hp version. I guess if you are used to Miatas though you probably know what you're getting.
