Gee, that could be almost any road in the southern mountains. Say north Georgia, N.C. or Tenn.
Also, you're drawn in by the car. Well here's one in Canada. To pricey for me and that mileage but sure looks purrrdee.

I had the same thought, how familiar the terrain looked, and I've been all over the Southeastern US mountains. The elevation could have been more I suppose, since the highest paved public road in the Appalachian Mountain range is about @6,500 ft or 2,000 meters over Mt. Mitchell.

yep

tail of the dragon is a bit too publicized for me anymore. last time, i had more fun picking random directions and getting lost on the back roads. the turns aren't as concentrated as tail of the dragon, but there's still plenty of sawing the wheel and elevation changes.

some of the best roads, i ended up just following some random local(nissan frontier, and a ford excursion on different occaisions). they're just tootling their way somewhere, i'm just trying to keep the same pace...

Bilstein B14 is in. There’s about two fingers gap on each wheel.

It wasn’t hard to install it. But learned the hard way about taking my time. I was rushing since noon to take Mrs Mafia out to eat dinner. Also how it sucks to do work in the middle of spring where pollen is so thick.

The biggest mess up was when I put the car back on its wheels. It was super high. I thought, there was no way I messed the measurements because I used a Digital Caliper (Micrometer). The screen showed exactly, 140mm at the rear, 110mm at the front. I know, there’s also the ruler that clearly shows measurements. But I completely omitted it.

Turned the micrometer back ok, and there it was, at its 0, the screen was showing -20mm. Had to zero it before adjusting height.

So there I was, raising the car back again and having to use the damn height adjustment bloody fckn wrenches. I fucking hate those things.

The hardest part was removing the sway endlinks, the bolt was pretty rusted so I made sure to clean everything with the wire brush before putting it back together. The two plastic things for the ABS sensor were a bitch to remove. Busted one of my knuckles.

I stuffed my face with fried calamari and fish-chips for dinner. Took 800mg of ibuprofen. Called it a day.

Im in a popular American YouTubers Discord (current big chat room service). Basically he lives in Japan and does videos on traveling there and that sort of thing.

In that Discord there are channels for people who subscribe to his channel to ask/answer questions about japan trip planning.

I'm trying to nail down some details for a few nights of my trip, the portion where I'll be doing daytime drives with my friends that I've mentioned in here previously.

Basically, since I won't be doing stuff in the major downtown area of Tokyo and just need quick access to the expressway, I was looking at some wards (mini cities of Tokyo) more outside of the downtown area as places I could stay those nights.

So I ask in this trip planning channel:

Quote:
any recommended wards to stay in on the outskirts of tokyo, like maybe Meguro/Setagaya/Shinagawa? -- not specifically asking for accomodations, just areas.

reason I ask is I am renting a car specifically to meet with (Japanese) friends closer to that part of the area, and staying closer to central Tokyo, like Akasaka or similar may be a bit less convenient, plus more expensive for overnight hotel parking.

probably even more ideally would be areas near routes to get onto the Shutoku Expressway
Someone replies:

Quote:
All the places you mention are central Tokyo. Setagaya is the least central but it's only minutes from Shibuya.

Train secretive service is fast and good in that area. Unless you specifically need a car for some reason your best bet is to not get one and just take the train.

Those places are all 10-15 minutes apart on the train.
So I replied saying thanks for the tip but the last part is totally unnecessary because:

1. I've been to japan before and know how good public transport is
2. I already mentioned why I'm renting a car and didn't further explain that bit since it's irrelevant to the actual question
3. I don't know why this person is bringing up answers to questions I didn't ask

So someone else chimes in and basically says I'm being a **** to the person who answered since they're being helpful.

But I don't get it. Why does this person not get called out for lecturing me on things I didn't ask for?

So at the end I said "(YouTuber) goes on road trips for videos sometimes when he could be taking trains, do people still question his decisions for that?"

And the third person who said I'm being rude didn't respond.

The actual YouTuber doesn't frequent this channel. These are just random people in the channel who "help" answer questions.

Maybe I should've just thanked the first person and not responded in my own defense. I guess I'm immature.

Maybe, but maybe not.

I'm a little (im)famous around places I worked for correcting people, particularly vendors on this. Me, or someone else in the meeting, will ask a question that should have a straightforward answer, and the vendor will go into a marketing spiel that has nothing to do with the actual question asked, or maybe very little.

In response I say some form of "That was great information, but you do realize it has nothing to do with the question asked, right? The question was....? Can you now answer that for us?"

I'm with Dadhawk. I probably would have said something like, "Thanks, but that is not what I was asking," and then reiterated the points.
