I also read even if you have the oil pick up tube cleaned, correct rtv amount applied, an after market baffle you can still have issues in regards to high g force circumstances because the oil can be forced and retained up in the engine as well and starve the oil pick up. So a larger oil pan as well.
For street only users there should be no issue.

Just ran NJMP Lightning Monday/Tuesday! Turn 9 aka "lighbulb" (although it looks like something else entirely) is an *extended* banked right-hander... And turns 1 and 5 are right-handers with elevation change!
FWIW my 240Z would similarly see oil pressure drop massively in right-handers, and I streeted/tracked it like that for a decade and probably 80 track days, until dual-driving the car at VIR with a friend I let it run low on oil and pressure dropped around oak tree and didn't come all the way back up... I limped back to pits, added oil, and continued on my journey but 12 miles down the road I started hearing the death-clatter, doh! I got a Nismo baffled oil pan for the rebuilt 3.1... Anyway, while it's not ideal I would bet the FA24 could live for a while being tracked occasionally with that kind of intermittent temporary reduction in oil pressure. Combined with RTV blocking the pickup tube, or worse, partially or totally blocking a critical oil passage? Gonna be short-lived... Last edited by ZDan; 06-29-2023 at 09:11 AM. |

I am curious (as we get closer to pulling the trigger on a BRZ)... are there documented cases of these failures happening on the street, as opposed to the track? (Uh, lateral G's are lateral G's) My wife will never take the car to the track, but what if I was driving it and, ahem, drove enthusiastically around an exit ramp?
