these cars don't have a fluid power steering pump. it's electric. so i don't know what you checked, but it wasn't the power steering!

I’m feeling dumb LOL. Got the belt off this morning and low and behold one of the idler pulleys was rough and wobbly. Replaced it and the sound is gone! Thanks for all the help everyone
