Ordered my tS interior parts from Japan Parts. Skipped on the guage cluster. Hopefully I can match the steering wheel trim to the tS parts...

And the wait begins./

So is it cheaper from the dealer for these parts now, or is it cheaper from the random OEM toyota parts sites on the web?

NVM. Went to the dealer today and they wanted more money than online.

Ok, have opened mine and the STI parts are NOT BLACK. They are more of a really dark satin gunmetal color. The sheen matches the stock silver plastic in terms of gloss with a bit more texture.

They don't appear to be simply painted either as the top coating didn't scratch off. I'f I had to guess I'd say they spray the metallic/color/texture into the existing mold of the part and then inject the liquid abs fusing them together.

Just curious, for those who swapped the silver trim on the knee pads did you have to remove these by following the same instructions as the jdm knee pad install (remove center console trim, shift boot trim, and lower center console)? Wasn't sure if there were less steps involved since I just need to remove the silver trim as opposed to the entire knee pad assembly..

Heres the link for the jdm knee pad install instructions that i'm referring to:

Yes you have to follow those steps to install the trim pieces. I just did mine last week and it was really easy.

For anyone who plans to do this, I advise putting masking tape on, at least on the HVAC side trims. You never know, someone might want them or you might reuse them. I was very careful and still got very light scuffs on one side. Pulling out the start/stop cubby was a mild PITA.

I also found it useful to wear nitrile gloves while taking them off. It gives you a LOT more grip. I couldn't take the cubby off until I put a glove on.

Does anyone who swapped to black buttons have a set of AT traction control buttons laying around that they want to sell?
