Racecomp Engineering Yellow Springs Review

I'd just like to start by saying that I'm reviewing this product completely independently and have no connections to RCE or any other parts manufacturer.
This is a comparison against stock BRZ springs. My BRZ is on stock size Michelin Pilot Super Sports for reference.

The GOOD:
Rides just like the car should have from the factory. When paired with a superior alignment (namely increased negative camber in the front) the car is much more confidence inspiring. The drop of just under one inch looks great if you're going for looks. I'd consider these to be an OEM Plus sort of modification, the handling is improved without compromising the ride much. The progressive nature of the spring is also nice. Complimented my moderately stiffer sway bars well, and worked well with the improved rubber too.

The Less Good:
The price? These are one of, if not the most, expensive spring options for the vehicle. The ride is a bit more bumpy, it's not uncomfortable: but you can tell a bit more about the quality of the pavement. Speed bumps are bit more jarring, obviously, but still worth noting.

Conclusion:
Very happy with my purchase. Vastly superior to the stock springs IMHO and much more enjoyable to drive on in the mountains. Autocrossing feels better overall; the springs didn't exactly improve my times much auto-magically, but they have made it easier to correct mistakes, slowly improving my times over multiple events.

Notes: If you install these yourself make sure to get the rears tight by pulling up on the top hat while you tighten with a pass through wrench and an Allen key, beware using an impact as these shafts are apparently pretty prone to spinning. The very first strut that I assembled (back left) was a tiny bit loose and required more tightening, even though it felt tight. It was a simple but time-consuming fix that I'd love to keep others from dealing with.

Im considering this product to upgrade my springs on my BRZ. Also, want to lower the car less than 1 inch.

@Jfheisenberg I don't think you'll be disappointed, plus installing them with a friends help isn't very tough and you can save a decent amount of money that way. Two friends makes it extra easy.

Just curious what's your front camber adjusted to? I'm about to get these same springs.

I have yellows. My rear camber came out to -2.0 on both sides, just from the lowering springs. I have camber bolts in front at -1.7 on both sides. I'd rather have -2.5 on the front, but I'd also rather not pay hundreds of dollars for a camber plate, so it's a compromise.

Sorry for the super late response (whoops didn't check this thread) but my front camber is at -1.7* each side with OEM crash bolts and my rear is at -1.8* either side with SPC LCA's, and rear toe-in is set at 1/16th's. However I'm installing camber plates next week to go up to -3* or -2.5* (ish, that's the plan at least). I can't really suggest these springs more... I've been competing and beating supercharged Miata's on 200tw tires in AutoX's while I'm just on 225 Pilot Supersports. (Granted: I have a header, tune, and XP8 brake pads too...) If you want to be fast and have fun on a decent budget: get these springs and a GREAT alignment.

The extra camber will really help with understeer. I ran -2.5 with camber bolts and it was night and day compared to when I just had the natural camber from the lowering springs

Hmm, how much additional camber one nets by lowering with RCE yellows vs stock?

The front doesn't gain much camber with lowering. -1.7 with crash bolts is probably going to mean under -1.5 with nothing added, maybe closer to 1.2? Meanwhile the rear end might end up at -2.5.

Its been a while but -1.2 is about right iirc. And the rear just depends. Mine was way off side to side -1.7 and -2.3. every car will be slightly different

I ended up with -2.5ish degrees in the left rear and -2.35ish in the right rear, the front gained almost no camber from lowering, even with Subaru crash bolts I didn't make more than -1.7 or -1.8 degrees up front. Unfortunately that's the exact opposite of what I have found to be a really good set up...
