What format is that aftermarket headunit? That looks bigger than 2DIN.

I think it's just an unfortunate angle of lighting vs camera in that particular photos. In other photos it looks ok.

Definitely - I just watched Toyota's release video, the screen clearly has a black surround, what a relief. A very nice looking unit actually.

angle of the photo with their lighting playing a trick... again, go look at BRZ launch thread or as the other user realized, watch the launch video. toyota knows better than to put something straight up shiny around something that you're trying to get a clear view of.

the other photo in this thread is also pretty clear.. compare top part of the bezel where the light isn't shining on it versus the trim around the shifter which is indeed silver..

I haven't come across any info regarding new HU but considering it looks roughly same size as before I would assume it remains double din..

lol but we've all already heard how it sounds from plenty of other videos. not sure what you expect, it is a NA 4 cyl, fancy tractor motor

They said "track days" many times in that video.
At 4:20 (sick) they talk about storing four spare tires for track days.
At the end of the video they say "1-year NASA membership, and a free track day".
That's some of the best marketing I've seen in a while.

Engine note?
I think they're just aware that most people who actually care
about exhaust sounds will buy aftermarket exhausts

Oh yea, wait for dealerships to give us a run around if something happens and they blame it on us tracking, saying "we don't cover warranty it you track the car!"

That may be true for a hard-core minority, many of whom are on this forum. But Toyota's marketing needs to be aimed more broadly - most potential buyers are not going to spring for aftermarket solutions, they are going to want it to sound appropriately sporty out of the box.

The track day marketing is a good move - unfortunately it seems to be US - only, I did not see it mentioned in the Canadian presser.

So there's only 3 actual colors -- red, blue, and another blue. The rest are non-colors. Black, white, two shades of gray. Yawn. It's a sports car guys, try something exciting!

Dislike the add-on duck bill. Need a spoiler-delete option.

Anyone know what the wheel specs are, i.e. bolt pattern and offset? Just wondering if gen 1 wheels will fit.

That and exhaust noise regulations get more and more restrictive. There’s no way to make a sporty exhaust pass regs anymore, that’s why everyone now pushes sound through speakers.

Aftermarket catbacks are the easy solution here.
