Could it be that the dealer did a dodgy installation? I would have thought they would cut a small hole to insert the camera in so that it's less obvious. Like this photo no?

What exactly is a "genuine replacement camera"? Replacement for what?
If it is only stuck on with double sided tape, they should be able to undo what they did. Perhaps they stuck it on to avoid having to cut a hole in the bottom of the rear garnish to recess the camera... downside is it sticks out, upside is it's removable leaving no marks... hopefully... I'm guessing the work was farmed out to their normal supplier for supply and install... unlikely the dealer fits these themselves. Can they tell you if there is an existing harness already in the car or did they have to run the cables all the way through? She will be checking with her manager on what to do next... hope it's a good outcome for you. |

That install is kind of dodgy.

I checked it out today and its not one of those reverse cameras that fold in and pop out. It is exactly that rear camera though.

More like you "genuinely" just got scammed by your dealer .
Go to them and start a bitch storm, take them to hell and back… I'm sure they will work something out for you . If not the BBB and reviews are always there to trash them. Pfft |

I would like to know, if we take a 86 to a Subaru dealer to get their camera fitted, will that work?
