yeah, that's my only "concern" that could think of when i made the decision to do the first 2 changes on my own. i also just keep the receipts of the stuff (i just got a bulk of the oil/filters from the same dealer too actually) and the mileage it's done at. my friend is one of the managers there, so i'm hoping as long as he doesn't quit, i'm good if i need the warranty use. lol

I guess that makes sense but doesn't match with my anecdotal experience, I'm a wimp and I've rounded a ton of nuts, bolts, and screws in my life, including my FRS drain plug when I reached under the car to save some time instead of shimmying under to get closer and the ratchet slipped off.

Not nearly as bad as OP's but it doesn't take a gorilla to round an edge.

Little hint from when I used to do my own changes. Take a picture holding the receipt up beside the mileage when you do the change. This way you have proof of materials, actual mileage and date stamp on the pic as evidence. May not convince the dealer but would have some weight if ever had to go to court.

Took it to my local redneck garage. They had to use a breaker bar to get the oil plug out. Obviously, the dealership didn't bother to replace the washer, and tried to seal the drain by overtorquing the drain plug. New drain plug, new washer, installed by redneck garage, and all is OK.

Look, in all my years of wrenching, how the hell are you going to round that bolt? 14mm wrench, new crush washer, DONE! Even the 14mm drain bolt on my 3sgte from year 1996 doesn't look like what the monkey mechanics at Heffner did to my FRS. Terrible.

Good to know. I bought my car from them, but looks like they won't be servicing it. I actually use the Subaru dealership here in Tbay because the Toyota one is full of morons who have never head of Scion let alone the FR-S.
Who would you guys suggest in the GTA for service (Ill be in Whitby) that is also mod friendly?

EDIT: @hmong337 looks like they used the ole good'n'tight method.

Just do your own shit or be lucky and know a local friendly oil change shop. It's still safe to say I will NEVER EVER service with a dealership anymore. Thankfully I know a good local oil change shop and a dude I went to middle school with has his own auto-mechanic business now.

Meh it's just a drain plug. I'm going to keep getting the free oil changes for life at my dealership. If they fuck something up then they're paying for the fix.

At least it's stripped CCW, imagine how hard it would be to remove if they'd applied the same force when tightening. For the record I made the mistake of utilizing "free" services too where they "topped off" my washer fluid tank, except it was actually the coolant reservoir.

Ding ding ding. Took an impact wrench to a drain plug, went *bzzzzzzzzzzt* a little too long, and now it's rounded.

Ouch. There's not even that much torque on that bolt. The Fumoto valve is pretty nice though. Clean and leak-free. Good reason to upgrade.

Also I'm really doubtful that damage could have been caused by hitting something. The drain plug is tucked pretty high up, above the skid plates. I would guess impact gun as well.
