3" Perrin CBE - Clearing Diff

Hi everyone. Having an issue with my Perrin 3" CBE. Specifically, once installed the S pipe comes crazy close to the rear diff. I've tried twisting, but the exhaust hanger wont let it move enough. Regardless of what I tried - there is only like... less than a finger gap between the pipe and the diff. A sudden sharp turn, speed bump or pot-hole hit, and the exhaust will clang against the diff.

Has anyone had this issue? Are there longer exhaust hangers that are recommended? Thanks for any feedback.

are you using stock hangers or the stiffer aftermarket ones? that might help keeping the exhaust in place. also make sure to loosen everything before trying to move the s-pipe including the hangers.

Yeah, I was just under the car for roughly an hour. Essentially detached the muffler from the S pipe and the front pipe. I could only rotate it so much before the angle of the pipe wouldnt allow connection to the exhaust hanger.

Using OEM hangers at this time. I may have to go w/aftermarket stuff ones if I cannot lower this. I can already tell on the pipe where its been making contact with the diff.

Touches during sharp turns. I'll just order some poly-hangers and call it a day.

Thanks for posting/replying.

I've got the 3" perrin CBE with the Perrin exhaust hangar bushings, and I haven't had any issues with the s pipe contacting the rear diff, at least nothing I could hear. But I haven't done any HPDE, just spirited driving.

One thing to check is the S pipe orientation. If it's installed backwards, then it could cause that problem, here's how it should look installed in the car. The longer straight section should be connecting to the muffler side.

Thanks, yes the S-Pipe is on correctly. I can get some pictures tomorrow when I have the car lifted back up. Ordered some bushings already.

Thanks.

Here are the best pictures I could grab for now, until I'm on a lift either tomorrow or Thursday. Interested in any feedback.

That does look really close, but I don't see any marks from it hitting, are you running the factory front pipe? How's the alignment for the rear bumper?

No, I am running a Invidia catted front-pipe. Tip alignment is spot on... left side (driver) may poke out a TAD more than the right.

You dont see the marks from it hitting due to the angle I was able to get the photo. The moment I take a hard turn, the stock hanger moved and I get a nice dull CLANG.

Any other picture requests? Even with new hangers it'll still be way too close for my liking... but it looks like there isnt much I can do about it. - note this is the 3" version. I think the picture you provided was the 2.5"

Are you running an adapter at all going to the catback coming from the front pipe? Just want to double check. I have the 3" system on my BRZ, and I haven't had any issues with it hitting at all. I have the PERRIN mounts, but they aren't longer than stock.

Nothing off the wall. Tomei Header, Tomei Overpipe, Invidia Catted FP, Perrin 3" CBE. Stock hangers, and mounting hardware.
