Chasing an exhaust leak -Donut gasket or gasket exhaust came with?

I just got done installing a mid pipe + overpipe + header and I'm trying to follow an exhaust leak. I used a donut gasket from the mid pipe to axle back, but it didn't seem to find that well... Now I'm thinking I used the wrong gasket. The Injen midpipe came with a cheap non donut gasket that seemed to fit, but I thought the donut gasket would be better.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Did you reuse a gasket between the overpipe and mid pipe?

It looks like your mid pipe does not have a flex pipe built in so the donut gasket + spring bolts are a must.

Also high temp silicone sealant is your best friend when dealing with gaskets and never having to deal with them again.

What makes you think it is the leak? i had a similar problem with company logo plates on the pipes, they rattle like crazy and sometime sounds like leaks. other way you could try is just jack the car up and start the car to feel the leaks on flange

I have had great success with these thicc ones on the header to OP and OP/FP connections. https://www.amazon.com/Remflex-6005-.../dp/B00B2HMF7G

Granted, if you're sure the leak is at the midpipe and Injen gave you a gasket to use you might as well try it.

I'm just going to take it to a muffler shop and get it on the lift.

You can also put the car on jackstands (lift is preferable), get a vacuum cleaner which can also blow air out and connect the vac to one end of the tailpipe and plug of the other. Turn on the vac and spray the exhaust connections with soapy water (I use Johnson's baby shampoo + water).

The leak will be easy to spot with bubbles forming around the affected area.

I also second McTeeJ's choice of gaskets. I used Remflex gaskets to fix stubborn leaks on the header - overpipe and overpipe - frontpipe connections.

Frontpipe - Midpipe connection, I used the OE donut gasket (cleaned it) in conjunction with Loctite (Permatex) Copper RTV.

Leak free

If it's been leaking for a while you should see the soot leaking out wherever the leak is.
