Borla UEL headers?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og7l6ueciuI"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og7l6ueciuI[/ame]

In this video it shows a FRS with Borla UEL headers, Invidia catted front pipe and FT-86 speed factory v1 exhaust, my question is, if i got the headers, invidia catted from pipe, but instead went with an invidia N1 catback exhaust, would it still make that loud rumble noise? Also is most of the noise just from the headers? Any feedback would be much appretiated!

Yes, the rumble will be similar with the invidia or the ft86speedfactory exhaust.

I'll be selling borla UEL dirt cheap once my nameless header arrives, if you're anywhere near the VA area.

I'm doing this setup soon except with a JDL UEL header, Invidia catted front pipe, and N1 catback. Few have said the drone isn't near as bad with the UEL on versus the stock header. My biggest concern is rasp more than drone.

You will still get the exhaust note of an uneven length header, but with some drone. With a resonated front pipe I had massive drone in the 3-4K rpm area, cruising on the highway was killing me.

I highly suggest a helmholtz resonator in your system if you go with the N1 exhaust, it kills the drone completely

I just found an old video when I was adjusting my bypass valve (ignore the whine) and you can hear the exhaust note with the borla UEL/N1 exhaust but with a helmholtz resonator... without the helmholtz the microphone would be overwhelmed with drone and just sound like someone was yelling into it

Gives a decent idea of what it sounds like in the lower more drone-prone RPM range

With a catted frontpipe I would honestly just expect the same noise but with added drone/headache

Coldstarts on a non-catted UEL will be very raspy with the N1

Does a resonator just eliminate cabin drone or does it lower the sound of the exhaust too?

Blow over a 2 liter coke bottle and notice the noise that generates in the actual 2 liter. That's essentially what a Helmholtz does. It takes that frequency out of the exhaust but does not really affect the noise of the exhaust outside. Has more to do with that deep tone inside the cabin.

The only pipe I would consider getting if my setup drones too much with the N1 is going the catted\Helmholtz route with Nameless. Probably the best front pipe for our cars hands down both pricewise, quality, and performance. You can get it catted, catless, and optional with the resonator.

As said above, the volume is the same but the drone is gone... it does sound quieter inside but only because of the lack of deafening drone
