N/A Touge Build!
Hey everyone!
As of December last year I bought my 2013 FRS! My plan had always been to do a naturally aspirated build on this chassis and tailor it 100% to being one of the best-performing cars in the mountains of norcal. My main purpose for this thread is to receive input on parts and advice on how to achieve the best performance out of these cars! Below are some photos of how the car sits now along with a full build plan, marking which parts are currently installed on the car and which ones have not been completed yet. List looks more like a show build than a touge build. Staggered + incredibly wide tires for less than 200whp.

Touge builds usually have heavy focus on weight reduction and performance suspension mods. I don't know how a stanced wide body fits in that ethos personally, but its your car man so have fun and make it yours!

Agree with the above. IMO the quickest way to build a fast mountain pass car:
1. Driver mod / HPDE 2. Driver mod / HPDE 3. Driver mod / HPDE 4. Driver mod / HPDE 5. Sticky tires (71R, A052, rt660) 6. Good suspension (949 Xidas, RCE T2) + proper track alignment 7. BBK + track pads 8. E85 + good header (Ace, JDL 4-2-1, PTuning EL) + good tune 9. Weight reduction 10. Driver mod / TT / W2W Good luck and be safe.

Great build and glad to see another 86 hit the many mountains here in NorCal!
IMO it looks more of a show car than a canyon cutter but you do you. "Every racecar can be a show car but not every show car can be a racecar"

I mean its a 11 inch wide rear and 9.5 front, I personally dont consider that super wide haha, my focus is much more on suspension and grip, because im in california.... where I will probably get state reffed for a drop in filter

FWIW I compete in a lot of hillclimbs, as close to touge racing as you'll get. My car has headers, no cats, E85, coilovers and a 4.67 diff (extra torque for hills is a must for a touge car surely) . It's in full road trim and is competitive with most things with two doors and 2000cc, including a few Elise's, Integra Type Rs, S2000s, and Miatas, and BMWs.
My advice would be to focus on performance mods with data to justify them. Start racing and get as much seat time as possible, and for the love of God leave VSC in sport mode when you're on public roads. Oh yeah, and a six-point harness is a bad idea unless you have a head restraint of some type. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk |
