Anyone seen the spy shots of the car in camo and compared to those renders that were released a while back ?

We would be lucky if Toyota/Subaru have a next gen car at all. This would be exactly the kind of car that is meaningless to the financial prospects of Toyota, and could be easily cut and be less than rounding error to them. Kudos to them - IF they actually go through with it and make it at all. A minor update, some new body panels on the same platform, plus the marketing spin of a 'bigger, more powerful engine' would be a relatively inexpensive way of refreshing the car without spending much money. That's probably the most one can hope for these days. |

To my eyes the renderings and spy shots of the GR86 don't look bad at all. But I honestly like the looks of the current car better (it's those damn sexy front fenders...). The GR86 would have to offer a LOT more than 12 extra hp to tempt me out of my current car (if it turns out to have a naturally aspirated 2.4 with 217 hp). |

Or, higher pedestrian impact safety to bring up the safety rating.

I don't think the hood looks any taller.
Compared to: What it looks like is more of a negative curvature, where the fender fails in and outward to make it look like the fender is flat above the wheel and moves into the the new body line that joins the cooling ducts behind the front wheel. Also see the grmn sport concept where they sort of attempt this design: If you look at the cowl area, the hood does slope downward quite aggressively. The lumps of the fenders just creates an illusion of a lower hood. Maybe it moves a few millimetres, but not to the extent that I would say it is meaningfully higher. |

Yea i see it now, the fender bumps are making the hood look lower on the first gen. It’s amazing how they pull that off while only being barely taller than the middle of the hood. |
