Unichip throwing p0102 code ??
Hello all,
Lest week my FR-S w/ unichip (also AFE CAI & DC cat-back) started stalling at red lights. CEL comes on, read code p0102 (MAF low voltage). Cleared, went fine for a little while. Stalled again at another light. Didn't clear code. Then, it starts misfiring/stuttering during acceleration. No flashing CEL, but enough to feel. After, car would not accelerate past 50% throttle. I could push the pedal down fine, but would not accelerate any harder than at 50% throttle. I unhooked Unichip, everything is fine. Any ideas? I hate to have this $450 chip sitting there doing nothing.... but I'd rather have a drivable car... Any input is appreciated. |

If it runs fine without uni-chip connected then its unlikely to be MAF sensor fault , dirty or due to your intake mods. sounds like uni-chip stuffed, incorrect TUNE MAP loaded/corrupted or wiring/connector problems. The 50% throttle will be ECU in limp home mode due MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor input out of range its the one in the intake tube. Sell it and buy an Open Flash Tablet or similar then flash map directly to ECU = less problems. see here different cel code but potentially same issue "connections", run a dedicated 12V and ground feed to unichip http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...hlight=unichip |

I would contact whomever you bought it from and see if they have any suggestions. I had similar problems. Eventually I modified the wiring harness giving it dedicated 12V and ground connections. After that it worked perfectly.

I had the same problem in the winter. My car + unichip was awesome for about 5000+ miles, but then started stalling when coming to a stop. I removed the unichip, and everything ran perfect. A close inspection of all the connections and grounds revealed no corrosion or other connectivity problems. I really have no idea what the source of the problem is, but I haven't had the unichip back on since.
I might give it another try this summer, but we'll see. I've moved on to suspension mods, and am learning that the real performance gains with this car are all in the handling department. |
