Performance package wheel/tire weight vs. regular wheel/tire combo

Today I swapped out my old OEM wheels and tires with a new set of OEM performance package wheels and OEM Michelin Primacy HP tires. Both sets have center caps and TPMS. The old tires have about 6/32 inch tread left. The new one seem to have 9.5/32 inch tread. I weighed them with my bathroom scale which might not be as accurate as desired. The end result is that the new set is 42 lbs and the old set is 40.5 lbs. 3.5/32 inch is roughly 2.77 mm. I am not sure whether such a circle of tread can weight 1.5 pounds. Most likely not I guess. So the additional 0.5 inch wheel width does add a bit weight.

Looks like my bathroom scale did well. From now on, I regard it as industrial class.
