Car Covers
My BRZ is about to spend 15 months driveway parked in southern New England, so I want to get a car cover for it. Some snow, but minimal. Sun & heat, but nothing like SoCal. Any suggestions? After these 15 months it will be back to Colorado garage living, so the cover will never be used again. Is it a mistake to get a cheap, generic one off Amazon?

I doubt you will find a good all weather car cover for cheap. Sometimes a cover does more harm than good. If moisture gets under it, or It's not skin tight in wind, it can do more damage than it prevents.

Good points. I can imagine those things happening. It just creeps me out having it sitting in the sun, more so than the winter weather. Though I guess the sun is mellower here than where I've been living: Colorado, SoCal, Hawaii.

Just put some good sealant/wax on maybe?
Is this 15 months just parked in place or 15 months of new England driving?

I've seen damage on BRZs due to car covers, like other's have explained, if moisture goes underneath, plus heat, it will damage the already fragile top coat these cars have. This coming from someone that also live in New England. I would highly recommend a fresh wash that removes all waxes/sealants. Proceed with a polish, sealant, and good wax.

In New England, your damage from parking comes from underneath the car, not above.

The squirrel that likes to stuff acorns by the battery compartment agrees.

This is what I'd do. Get all the painted surfaces and trim ceramic coated.
I'd also get a good fitted sun shade for the dash to help protect the interior, and maybe rig up something for the back window too if it isn't tinted already. Don't you also have some other mice or rodents that like the eat the wiring too? |

Not really, my wife's car on the other hand, the insulation on her engine cover is all torn out because of chipmunks. They like to cozy up on top of the valve cover and stuff all their acorns too.

I'll take the advice and have it ceramic coated as soon as it arrives in Connecticut. Or is that something I can do myself? |
