Like Dark said there is a very very very limited market for such things and it is not the car companies that need to fill that hole. I don't want to pay thousands more for a car because 2 people want straight cut gears (if you ever street drove a car with them you would understand why they are rare) and that is what would happen.
Now if they could sell thousands of them and make loads of cash...
Oh for sure. Straight cut gears would be a unicorn, but a beefier transmission wouldn't be too much harder for the actual manufacturer - they already make the transmission to start with, they could just have a "TRD" version with beefier internals. My memory fails me at the moment, but I think there was an option like that for the 300ZX you could get from Japan. It could have been an aftermarket rebuild, but I think I remember people ordering brand new, beefed up transmissions from Nissan. They weren't cheap...

They don't make the tranny they buy them. Sure beefier ones could be made but as you said they would be expensive due to the low numbers. Most of the people that would ask the car company to provide it would then scream at the price and say they could get it cheaper from the aftermarket anyway. Look at how many people refuse to buy the TRD exhausts or intakes because they say they cost more than they "should". The companies are not generally in the extensive modification business and that is why there is a thriving aftermarket.

Edit:
Talk about great timing! Increasing the durability of the tranny just moves the problems further down the line anyway. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...82#post3370382 Where does the manufacturer stop making heavier duty parts to meet the demands of somebody increasing the power?

That's actually why I'm leaving my axles stock. I'd rather break and axle than shear a gear. it's almost like they designed the failure points in order to least to most serious

heh, yeah, exactly what happened in the 300ZX world, in that order...

Then there's the whole issue of this kind of being the wrong platform for big power anyway...

I could see this kind of thing happening more with the Supra.

Already happened with the Supra but they went backwards. They offered a downgraded version not an upgraded one.

If we get the FA24 with D4S, I wonder what aftermarket parts will be compatible. Typically turbocharged models are not compatible with NA models, so the FA20D and FA20F have different ports and stuff, yet I wonder if the FA24D will be compatible because it is just a bored out FA20. Will my Ace headers or my Harrop supercharger bolt up to the FA24D?

I suppose if the ports on the FA24F are the same as they are on the FA20F then that could be the same for the D motors. I looked it up, and these gaskets are the same. Hopefully that is promising for anyone wanting to update to the new car that maybe some parts will swap.
