Yeah, I’ve seen that before. A hitch is a possible addition to my car in the future, but so far, having friends carry the tires to far away races has worked for us.

I have no doubt that there probably are minivans faster off the line, but in this case a lot of the blame goes to the driver. The Minivan beat him off the line substantially enough that it was moving before the other driver was off his brakes.

Around town Why would I want to try to beat a mini van around town from light to light? Hey, Mike, watch me beat out this mini van full of kids, driven by a soccer mom who is on her phone - Why would someone driving a mini van want to beat my FR-S? Hey Marge, watch me beat out that old man in his so called sports car. OBTW, which team is Johnny on this year? On the freeway They both will easily go the speed limit - On the curves Hey hon, watch me pull away from this mini van full of kids and camping gear, on this set of curves up here. Yes dear, that was impressive - humfrz - jest getten old, maybe - |

I can count on my hands how many times I've launched my 86 looking for optimal zero to sixty. Sure It'll do it, but It isn't worth the wear and tear on the drivetrain to barely pull on todays average cars.
If you need to feed your ego racing vans at stop lights; you want a car like the mustang which has been wrapped around every other tree in america. When I do decide to mess about, It usually involves a remote parking lot with all the nannies turned off. |

Light to light no, that’s boring. Around turns a mini van is fun. My dad used to have a 1st gen Honda Odyssey (97 if I recall). I would barrow it when I went to Daytona 24, Sebring and PLM because I could camp in the back of it. There was something fun about throwing a big ass van around turns when it wasn’t really designed for such a task. Hahaha I find just about any car fun when driven to the limit. Assuming it doesn’t have a bunch of electronics trying to do the work for me. But yeah it’s silly to compare a sports car to a minivan. They were no doubt looking to line their pockets with clicks. |

I compare my '92 Previa to my BRZ as they are both rear wheel drive, very low center of gravity, underpowered, and get tail happy when you want them to.

A friend of mine had one of those. We would all pile in and go all over town skateboarding. He drove the crap out of that van. He later ended up with a 2nd gen RX7 and also drove the crap out of that. Curious what he is driving today. |
