I've tried Federal SS-595's, Accelera Alphas, and Kenda Kaisers, and all have been pretty good. Kenda's didn't seem to do as well up front (soft sidewall maybe), but do last a while in the back.
Ues these are my street tires. I figured they had lots of life on it that i could just drift on them. Drifted half the day while it was sunny then it rained. Thanks ill take a look into those options

Due to a bungle between the wheel manufacturer and the seller, my wheels were misordered and they almost sent me the wrong lug pattern. Refunded as the proper pattern is on backorder for 3 or 4 weeks. Back to the drawing board...

Still cant make up my mind between 16 or 17 inch. 17 seems like the way to go for tire selection, but 16 seems to be best for reduced rotational mass... blehhhh wish i could get 17x9 +20ish watanabe...

Ive been to a couple events. Did well in stock form but with this new turbo setup i wonder if i could just power over instead of clutch kicking. Btw arent u running the map 5858 turbo? Did u have issues with the intake pipe also?

Yes I am and yes intake pipe is not perfect fit no big deal and you'll still need to clutch kick for the turbo lag.

As of this past weekend, officially I am.

Drifted this thing for the past 2 years with just a header, exhaust and OTS Tune

Took it out for the first time last Friday. All I can say is, I basically need to re-learn how to drive the car.

As I'm sure you may know if you have drifted this car in stock form, it requires speed, momentum and lots of clutch kicking to keep the cars tires spinning. Many times on tight technical areas, even while beating the car she just would not have the steam and would scrub a lot of angle and speed.

My first run, I ran it like I was used to, I went in hard, flicked in and mashed the throttle. Well, now theres power behind it and I quickly spun around. Realizing I now needed to use a lot more throttle input, my re-initiation wen't well, gave a quick kick of the clutch and feathered the throttle.

as I went around the final turn, onto the "straight" I manjied, and boy its so much easier, and also a bit more scary with power behind it.

It's a lot easier to carry angle, and get more of it when you have more control over the car with throttle.

Overall, I'm VERY happy I learned to drift the car in its stock form, mainly because I think the learning curve would be much higher, and the risk much more being able to carry the speed I am now versus stock.

I was out at Formula Drift Seattle on Friday and Saturday. Fun event. Here are some photos and videos if you're interested - http://apexrally.blogspot.com/2016/0...down-2016.html .

I'm just daily driving my FR-S. It would be fun to try drift / other track stuff at some point...

Hey, for folks looking for 18" tires they had a lot of free ones at the Formula Drift race (used of course but still had a fair amount of tread left).

Last event I went to they drilled holes in the sidewalls to prevent this.
Liability reasons.

You won't want those anyways. Most of them are very large in size, like 265 width or bigger, and are pretty grippy for our cars to use as drift spares.

They're pretty much useless.
