As for subaru, I can't stand them, I think their recent build quality is crap, and when I first heard this car was a hybrid between subaru and toyota, I was immediately turned off. But, it's still alot of toyota tech which is why I am still interested and ultimately would like this to be my next car. As for a Supra, I want that to be completely Toyota 100%.

The FR-S is somewhat of a throwback to the AE86, but its not a direct successor, so I can see the hubrid of 2 companies. But if they bring back the Supra, use that name, I want it all Toyota.
Don't forget, all the Toyota sport cars have "Yamaha" in there, so can't have 100% Toyota brand

Of course. Its wishful thinking anyways, it'll be years before anything comes to fruition and even when it does, my student loans are so high I probably won't even be able to afford one. FML

Supra revival is something we are gonna also hear rumours about kinda like the NSX since its been like 07

The Supra and the FT86 are 2 totally different kind of cars and while I would love to see another straight 6 under the hood I highly doubt it since the industry is moving away from inline and gonig to V format.

Maybe a V6 base with a V6 turbo for a sport version and a V8 for the highest class (from this guy hopefully http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/22/l...ning-the-ring/)

I'm with ichitaka05. Turbo Flat6. It would still have a 6 cylinder as the Supra had, but in an even better form. H engines are better than I(nline) which are better than V. Even the M3 is going to drop its V8 for a tripple-turbo-charged I6 or V6.
Supra II with Flat6 Turbo could eat some 911 Turbo is built in the same way as the LF-A.

They weren't talking about a revival per se, but there have been rumors about the Mk.V Supra since '99. They crop up every few years and nothing ever comes of them. I'm so jaded about it by now that I don't really make distinctions between revival and replacement, it's all the same BS to me.

See the following link for a few examples:
http://cjsupra.kendra.com/mkv.html

Personally, I'll believe the rumors when I see a Mk.V in a dealer lot, and not before.

The reason Companies like Nissan Ditched I6 was because it was more expensive to make than v6. I6 engines are lighter and have less vibration than V engines. Atleast BMW still uses I6 engines... but then again they are going to use 4 cylinder engines for future model 3 series...

They ditched I6 because it needs more space (Length) in the engine bay, V configuration engines are more compact.....

This is ofcourse presuming the use of MacPherson strut type suspension which doesnt take much width in the car...

If you use full on Double wishbone or some kind of milti-link then an Inline engine is narrower giving more space for the suspension..

Its all about packaging....

Overall an Inline config. engine are normally cheaper and easier to produce when you look at it from an engineering and manufacturing perspective.

I think if Toyota does revive the Supra, it should run 11s to keep the old joke going.

If it could crack mid-12's I think it'd be in good shape.

Are we seriously talking about a supra revival again?

It's not going to happen any time soon.

Just like there's not going to be a RX-7 or NSX revival. They're all just rumors about what companies would like to do in the future. The economy sucks right now worldwide and the yen to euro/dollar ratio wouldn't make any sense to try and bring out low volume high performance sports cars right now.

The FT-86 is exactly what they need...a high volume, affordable, entry level sportscar
