I went back to my dealership and was told they would not replace the pump a third time without SOA's authorization and to contact SOA for further advice. I did so and now I've been asked to bring in OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS?! How does my oil change intervals affect the function of the high pressure FUEL PUMP!?!

This is kind of ridiculous, but I'll play ball...

Sounds like they're trying to blame it on lack of oil change to deny a warranty claim.

Yeah, I just sent a strongly worded e-mail back to the SOA rep who got in contact with my dealership in the first place. This is dumb, Subaru.

Stahp it.

Stahp bein' dumb.

While I don't agree with SOA's tactics, I just don't get people who keep getting their fuel pumps replaced when we all know there is no real fix yet. It just seems pointless for everybody to keep replacing these pumps until there is a confirmed fix released.

If nothing else it keeps Subaru and Toyota motivated to find a fix.
Otherwise why would they bother?

Because I want my issue known not only at the dealership level, but at the Subaru of America level as well.

Well you can have the issue noted, send email to corporate, etc. I just don't see the point in wasting my time getting pumps replaced every few months when there is no fix.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

That's pretty much what I did. They took video and pictures. I said to call me when you think you have a fix. I'm not running around like a mad man for no reason.

If we had the same problem with our cars here I wouldn't let them touch mine unless they had a modified pump to solve it.
I hate even taking a car in for a service because they always seem to mess something up and you always assume it's been thrashed on the road test. I even tell them not to clean it because I know it will get scratched.

However I would hound them every week, either the dealership or the head office and demand a fix. I would also add some 2T to shut it up in the mean time because it would ruin the car for me.

I have to agree...you really don't want them touching your car when you know the crickets are just going to come back. Remember the guy who had his pump replaced and the car caught on fire on the way home??

Why take a chance of something going wrong??
