ESC Throttle-switch settings
Everything is in but the batteries and interior wiring, which I plan to complete Tuesday. I saw a video somewhere recommending the first switch position be at 75% rather than the 60% the instructions I've seen say. So that would be 75 and 90-95. I think I'll aim for 90% rather than 95. I think that would give me a little room to adjust power at close to WOT.
Can any of you who have them offer some input? |

It's really not that big of a deal. It's a PITA mounting the switch to the gas petal but as long as it activates at full throttle everything will be fine. The purpose of the two stage switch is to reduce the shock to the compressor shaft. Once you get the switch mounted you can bend it to activate where you want it to. You really only want it activated at WOT.
I've only almost stalled my engine once by going full throttle at under 2,000 RPM. As long as you don't punch it under 2K you'll be fine. Let us know what you think about it once you get it running. Looks like there are very few of us ESC owners left on the forum. |

I think it s more that they are out of production, rather than out of fashion. Hard to maintain a fanbase when maybe 200 of something exists, and went out of production 8 years ago.
I have the earlier version 1 stage switch, so I didn't think I could really help with your issue.

I actually have two ESC kits (full without batteries), 1 fully functional kit, the other has a malfunctioned controller box, but everything else is ok. Kind of wondering what to do with them. Think I will be upgrading my 2013 FR-S to a 2022 GR86, so not really sure what to do with the ESC kits.

I just ran into an install problem. Maybe one of you who has these can advise.
There are two mini-plugs off the connector to the controller, one for the throttle switch and the other for the meter, but they're not labeled from PO and I don't know which goes where. I'm pretty sure they're not interchangeable, and I sure don't want to screw everything up. I see the throttle switch has a red-ring label and the meter is plain. Probably the only way to know is with a test probe but I have no idea about the circuitry on that connector. What to do, what to do? |

The install video clearly shows one plug with a red collar. Mine have no markings. The connector has a red wire at one end which I could probably test with a meter to see if I get current at one of the plugs.

I guess I'm wondering if anyone knows it won't matter much if I get them wrong, or if it means total destruction.
